Can anyone explain this to me:

German post delivers Hitler card

German postal staff ensured a postcard to Adolf Hitler sent from England got to its destination, despite the Nazi leader being dead for 60 years.
It was sent to "Fuehrer Adolf Hitler, Reichstag, German Parliament, Berlin, Germany", from an undisclosed address.
Deutsche Post said being dead was no reason not to deliver
Who the hell in the world today doesn't know that Hitler isn't dead? What next, an invitation the Julius Ceasar to give a speech about his Gaulish triumphs?
Unless it's a pisstake. That I can understand. Still odd, though.

Well there was a Japanese guy on some small little island who had no idea the war was over a good 50 years after it ended. had to have his old commander come tell him

Well, some pieces of mail have been known to disappear for decades and suddenly turn up again..

Someone probably sent it as a joke. This article was really poorly written, but if you read closely and make accurate conjectures, essentially a postcard addressed to the old address of Hitler was sent (aka the Reichstag). The German postal service delivered it to the Buedenstag, which took the place of the Reichstag after WWII, and sent back an address correction form to the sender.

Fun fact: Hitler is dead, but his descendants are not! They live on Long Island, New York, USA.

What's so weird about that? People write letters to Santa all the time, and he doesn't even have reliable mail service.

Probably the fault of the royal mail.

Antarctica, you mean.

Anyway, well, goes to show what has become of the Deutsche Post.

Bundestag. Just a small correction. I wonder what treasures one would find if they did a great cleaning action in all postal offices worldwide...

Yeah, I thought it was badly written as well. I had to read it a couple of times to work out that it wasn't a postcard lost for 60 years and finally delivered (as happens occasionally), but rather one written recently and posted to the wrong address.

That's one decent postal service. :)

I wondered as to whether they were talking about the recipient or the postman delivering the letter.
