Could somebody help me with this image?

http://img154.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img154&image=cthulhu1fo.png

I've been trying to give it a white background, but I'm not particularly good at using Paintshop...

open paintshop, look for the "magic wand", set it to like a 40% tolerance or something, select red, fill white. there you go

Can't you get it to select just the red?
Here's some ways:
1. I don't know much about Paintshop, cause I mostly use Photoshop. But in photoshop you can select a particular colour using the magic wand tool. And you can set how (in)accurate it is, so it will select colours that are similar. So if you set it to have a high 'feather' it find all the colours that are roughly red.
2. Another way is to contrast the pic, to make the octopus really dark (basically black) and then change it to a grayscale image. The black will be black, but the red will be dark grey. Playing around with the brightness and contrast should get rid of the gray.
3. You might also, if paintshop has colour levels, delete the red level.
Finally, you coulould be able to zoom into the picture and carefully (and painstakingly) use the magic wand tool to highlight just the octopus. Invert the highlight and press delete to wipe out the red.
Hope this helps.
Also, I'd blur the pic slightly to get rid of the ragged edges.

It was a spelling mistake I shall never live down.

actually come to think of it, all you probably had to do is grey scale it.
maybe not

Wicked! *snicker*...uh...who is Cthulhu? ;)

H.P. Lovecraft came up with him. I actually haven't read H.P. Lovecraft's work myself (although I plan to) but from what I understand, Cthulhu is an evil creature which slumbers beneath the Pacific ocean. When he wakes up one day, he will apparently spread madness and destruction across the face of the earth.

As the caption will say: "Cthulhu for president - why vote for the lesser of two evils?" :)

(and before somebody mentions it, yes I stole the idea. I just don't like the tshirt designs on the original web site)

Heh heh, you're assuming that I can work out how to greyscale it...

By the way, I like the new picture, TIN. Nice font.

The first time I saw that picture I burst out laughing and spilled coke over a college machine. No one saw so I was lucky.

But he could just wipe the mis-spelled word out and create a new layer with an invisible background, write the word "Thread" and line it up over the picture, then flatten the image.

Maybe in Paintshop. It's very easy in Photoshop. As I said, I haven't used Paintshop much, so wouldn't know.
