What is your favorite Syx song. Any album, Styx-Cylcorama, any line-up. There are to many to pick from so I can't post a poll and get them all. I'll tell you my fav(s) when I have it narrowed down a little. *pusts on styx*

Yes it is a great song. And one I probably would have spaced on the poll. Have you heard there new-ish album, cyclorama? Different but good in my opinion

Nope. Unfortunately, I haven't heard really any of their newer stuff...just the late-70's/early-80's classics. I'll have to check it out.

It's a trick question, isn't it? Styx never had any good songs. I should know, what with my older sister playing their albums incessantly.

Yet another part of the 70s gleefully forgotten.

Lorelei

It was never to high up on my list until I heard JY (and Burtnik) sing it. Oh yeah!!!

You've obviously not heard the Plexiglass Toilet song:

(adopting an exxagerated Spanish accent)
Don't seet down on de plexiglass toilet
Said de mother to her son
Wipe de butt clean with de paper
Make eet nice for everyone
And don't seet down on a plexiglass toilet, yeah

Boy of 5 steeps up to de toilet
Holds de leed up weeth one hand
Won't let go de leed for fear that
On hees banana eet will land
And don't seet down on de plexiglass toilet, yeah!

Ummm... Come Sail Away?

Here is Plexiglass toilet in it's entirety

Don't sit on the Plexiglas toilet
Said the momma to her son
Wipe the butt clean with the paper
Make it nice for everyone
But don't sit down on the Plexiglas toilet yeah

A boy of 5 stands close to the toilet
Holds the lid up with one hand
Won't let go the lid for fear that
On his banana it will land
Don't sit down on the Plexiglas toilet yeah

Boy goes up he eats the enchilada
With the sauce that burns the heart
Family comes to visit family
momma says don't belch and fart

Don't sit on the Plexiglas toilet
Said the momma to her son
Wipe the butt clean with the paper
Make it nice for everyone
But don't sit down on the Plexiglas toilet yeah

Everybody Sing!

Don't sit on the Plexiglas toilet
Said the momma to her son
Wipe the butt clean with the paper
Make it nice for everyone
But don't sit down on the Plexiglas toilet yeah

Sorry, but Styx is one of the wussiest bands of all time, esp. Come Sail Away. They rank up there with REO Speedwagon. The only songs I ever liked by them were Renegade and Mr. Roboto. The rest kinda makes me want to puke.

Darn you, Jolt! I lost my post -

Okay, I'll try to put this succinctly. They weren't such a great band. They were widely considered 'filler' on FM radio in the seventies. The big bands, the ones that people actually listened to, weren't cranking out albums every other week, so somebody had to step up to the plate. I lived in the seventies, I should know - the big acts were the Stones, the Who, and Pink Floyd. Bands like Styx, Queen, and a host of others sprung up to bridge the gap between big radio hits.

It's only when taken out of context that small fish like Styx seem larger than they were.

Small fish like the first band to ever produce four (or is it five) triple platinum albums in a row. And many of there best songs never broke it. Examples: Half-Penny, Two-penny, Lights, Queen of Spades etc...

I'm going to be clever and original and say "Mr. Roboto"

A truly sub-par song IMHO

Just goes to show that record sales don't mean much in the end. Last I ever saw of a copy of 'Equinox' it was being used as a mouse-pad. No biggie.

I went to the Rock * Roll Hall of Fame a few years back, and there were hundreds of people checking out the Devo costumes, but no-one was much interested in the Britney Spears outfits on display. And Britney's sold waaaay more records than Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casales.

Go figure.

That's cause Brittney wasn't in them :p Some outfits are still interesting without the people in them. Like Twisted Sister, Devo, Kiss, some Stones stuff etc...

I think we may have to simply agree to disagree. That is one of the great things about music (or any art) is that it is all subjective.
