in short: Virginia has passed a law against excessively baggy pants. Shit like this could only pass in Virginia. Even other ridiculously conservative states usually have enough people with sense to kill things like this

...Only in Virginia?
Why would you go and insult the people of Virginia over something a foolish elected official is proposing? Surely this is as bigoted a statement as the legislation you're opposed to.
Any reasonable person agrees this bill is not fit to become law in a free society based on individual rights, nor is it appropriate jurisdiction for a government that should have much more important matters to attend to...
...but I don't believe Virginia has any special tendency to try to use the government to boss people around. Do you know much about Virginia? Ever been there? Know anybody from there? I mean, really know them?
This isn't about Virginia. It's not peculiar to Virginia. Rather, it is quite sadly, an attribute that most people arrogantly believe to be the role of our elected officers. You know, to use the power of the law to beat up on people we don't like, we fear, or hold jealous feelings against. The framers called this tyranny by majority.
It's a very dangerous thing.

P.S.
This bill hasn't passed the Senate yet. It hasn't been signed by Governor Warner and probably won't be. It's plainly Unconstitutional. It's not a law, and probably never will be.

Stupid Virginia. They should be destroying the sanctity of marriage or banning the pledge of allegiance. Why waste time with decency?
