Started in response to 1234554321's 'No Gay Marriage' thread, I have decided to make my attempt to convert you all (:p) to accept that the government should get out of marriage altogether.
Marriage, before the government ever interferred with it here in the US, was a religious institution. So why can't people realize that getting involved in marriage altogether is in violation of the 1st Amendment (Separation of Church and State, specifically)?
And those who complain that married couples lose their tax benefits and such . . . just transfer all those benefits to Civil Unions, which would be allowed to everybody.
