Im gonna have to say Italy.

Mainly because it has beautiful landscape, women, monuments and other great history and wonders. Great food, they arent very anti-Amrican, until you get up in the northern sections. Friendly people, And I am crazy about Venice.

EDIT:Mods, could you change England to UK

That was kind of a "my bad" situation.

Germany. pro-europe, excellent health system, good economy - lots of trade routes, proper post-industrial industry (west probably more than east). that said i've only been there a few times (family) but have learnt a fair bit in my european integreation module.

The UK's not bad, but we have chavs and suchlike which bring it down...

There's no doubt about it, its England (or the UK, I should say).

How can you beat a country like England? Football is king, history is abound, and the country just oozes character. Combine this with the ruggedness of both the Scottish landscape and peoples, and the uniqe Gaelic culture of Wales, we have quite the country. And let's not forget Northern Ireland!!

Any English people on this forum who are looking for someone to rent rooms to, I'll pay. Anything you want. ANYTHING. I have extra organs, you can have those. I just have to brush up on my "God Save the Queen..."

Besides social benefits, we've got great landscapes, history, and a largely varying climate. Not to mention the fact that we've got a few of the world's best metal groups.

Also, tourists that come here have the benefit of a population that can actually speak English if necessary! (Try finding that in France or Germany.)

- We have the food. I've eaten food from all around the world, and ours is still the best :p
- We have the landscape; Well, its pretty, but so it is the landscape of most of Europe, so i aint going to compete much on this one.
- We have the women (Portuguese women, and foreign women, since plenty of foreign women travel to Portugal, to meet Portuguese males.. what can I say? Portuguese do it better :D )
- We have SUN. That is right! In Portugal, you don't go around depressed with the British Fog, or the sweedish absence of Sun.. that is right.. we have sunshine most of the year, a great weather, beach, beach, beach :D
- We are nice people :D Yes sir, we like foreigners (especially those that spend money)! We will treat you nicely "nod nod nod"
- We kick ass in Football. Period. (The greeks..uh... uh.. bribed the referee! That's it!)

We have sun in Sweden! The winters are cold, but the summers often get nice and warm, at least in the south where I live. I've actually lived in Florida a few years, and found that excessive heat all the time was just too much. It's fine every once in a while, but I really appreciate the different seasons of the year.

Nonsense. The full title that you're looking for is 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland', which was created through the signing of an agreement to create a joint parliament for England and Scotland. Both sides of the agreement made it very clear that they were still countries in their own right. At the time of the agreement, and the creation of the title you misquoted so mildly, there was no such area as 'Northern Ireland', as Eire had not yet been divided up by the British for their own gain.

England, Scotland and Wales are all seperate countries, but they share a government and a monarch. I'm British, I've been to all three, and they are most definately countries and not regions. There's signs to tell you as you travel between them. I live near the welsh border. I lived in Scotland for six years.

England, Scotland and Wales are all seperate countries, but they share a government and a monarch. I'm British, I've been to all three, and they are most definately countries and not regions. They arent individual countries...theyre like states in the US, they arent independent nations, there is no country called England, no country called Scotland, no country called Northern Ireland, no country called Wales.

Dont bring up the home rule thing, constitutionally they have no right to exist and can be disolved by Westminster at any time

The "Home Nations" arent countries, they are just commonly referred to as such, but they arent actual sovereign countries...and nobody recognises them as such

The state is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Yes, but we wouldn't refer to the UK as England. We call ENGLAND England, Scotland Scotland, Wales... You get the point. Dude, Scotland has it's own parliament. Wales has it's own national assembly (clue's in the word national. National = nation. Nation = country). England and Scotland have different legal systems. Not in the way the US has, with a federal over-system, but in the way it's got a completely independant system that evolved seperately. The UK is a group of countries. It's not a country in itself. It's a bit like the EU.

4hrs of ***** Connex South-Central trains...oh sorry "Southern" trains, on a 1hr30min journey (counting delays and cancellations) does not = London.

On the National Census 'Scottish' and 'Welsh' and 'Irish' were all options. Which pissed off the English.
Scotland is rooting for independence, heck they're there already practically, except then they'd have to give up the British Parliament. Westminster would be half empty.

ah, no you got that wrong

the country is the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"

England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are just...regions really.

You really don't know much about the UK do you. It's a Union of the four countries you mentioned. That's the reason why we have the "Union Jack", which of course, is made up of the flags of Scotland and England superimposed over each other.

First of all, it isn't the "Union Jack" unless it is flying from a ship, it is actually the "Union Flag". Secondly, you have failed to mention that for the past two hundred years not only has it been comprised of the Flag of St George and the Flag of St Andrew, but also the Flag of St Patrick (the red diagonals).

Apart from the fact i live in the UK

And the Union Flag (Jack is the naval term) is the flag of Saint Patrick, the English flag and the Scottish flag

It's a bit like the EU.
well yea, if you ignore tha fact that Executive power lies witht eh Cabinet in Westminster (Except with Northern Ireland, where Executive Power lies with the Secretary of State)

The UK is not made up of seperate states, it is made up of four "nations" which in all legal truth are united in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland....despite what you might like to believe

Scotland might have its own legal system, but at the end of the day (despite what the Scottish Parliament - whish has no constitutional right to exist - says) real power lies in the central Parliament at Westminster
