If Max got drunk one night and dubbed you "Forum Moderator," how would you abuse, misuse, or just plain USE your newfound powers? The good way or the evil way?

Or as I like to call it, the way that no mod ever goes, and the Myrth way.

I'd probably show Myrth up in his own game. Really, google image search > you. Post images of cows whenever I delete a post, post censored images of teh g0at whenever I DEAT, and spam up the forum with my own trademark images. :D
Oh, and I'd make smart-ass comments too. But that was a given for any and all mods.

Delete everyone and laugh hysterically doing so.

I would ruthlessly censor everyone who made tasteless remarks and jokes.

Then I would be very lonely, all by myself on this forum...

I would immediately resign. Who the hell wants the additional bother of being a Mod, for crying out loud!

Whee! I'd go on an obnoxious spree of deleting, locking, and other mod-stuff-abuses.

That is, if I knew I was given it accidentally. If I thought they were being serious, I'd do my best to uphold the rules.

I'd sign an executive order that would free all my citizens that were imprisoned on drug possession charges. Then I would end the stupid and wasteful war on drugs.

I'd make it possible for all users to make their own title. Or possibly have a long list of cool ones, and then they could choose from that just in case someone wanted some inappropriate title. I'm not thrilled with being a cyber sheep farmer or whatever the heck I am. ;)



I might also send electrical shocks through the internet for those especially annoying folk. Or make them go to the dunce thread where they cant leave for a week and everyone gets to punish them verbally and they are powerless to reply.

My first action would be to delete every topic on the forum, then start randomized mass deletions of nations, followed by imposing my will on the NSers, who would be commanded to go forth and exterminate all Portugese and their colonials (South Americans and so forth), because crusading against the Jews is too old fashioned. (I want to be somwhat original).

I would then unite the world under my rule and force everybody to play NationStates. I would also give TRA, Reaper, Letilia and the like their own forums, where they were the moderators.
I think it would be funny.

Um.. uphold the rules as they're stated, and as I'm required... but be an evil jerk about it every chance I get.

Of course, that's in fantasy land, in reality, I'd decline simply because I'm already a moderator on NFSCars.net, and it's hard enough to deal with the over 10,000 members there, I'd hate to try it here.

If I were a mod, first off I would cruise through General to see if there were any flames to be put out.... then I would lock threads that were blatantly trolling or a flame war.... I'd lock Paradise Club when it got over 1300 posts so they could start the new one.... read the Moderation forum and try to help resolve arguments in II and NS... delete links to pr0n....

If I were a mod, I would think about my life, and wonder how I got to the point where I spend so much time on an internet forum that I became a mod. Then I would get over it and lock reasonable debate threads, and promote spam.

Create as much paranoia as possibly amongst the masses - move threads to illogical places (especially of serious discussions/RPs to the spam forum, where Good Posters Fear To Tread), edit posts but make no, or only very slight, changes, deleting and then resurrecting random Nations, and labeling anyone who complained DoS. Then I'd put everyone on my Big Blacklist of Doom unless they posted something positive in one of the many modshrines I'd start.

In most nations, if you marry a citizen of that nation, you become a citizen of said nation. So ... if you marry a mod on NS, do you get to be one yourself?

Really, Just play the game and block the idiots, flames, racists etc.
I'd be worth it to see what some of the deleted comments/threads are, theres nothing more interesting than following a thread with a few deleted comments and trying to pick out what the hell they were.

I'd try to merge all the threads in all the forums into one big thread.

Years ago somone was elected a forum mod for somethingawful for a week and did that.

It crashed their servers.



If that didnt work I'd ban all the people I didnt agree with.

I wouldn't do much of anything unless sombody was choking the forum with spam. That gets in the way of others posting.

Mostly I'd let people say whatever they want with the exclusion of death threats and spam that goes overboard.

I'd really like being a mod, I think. I certainly enjoy admining on the other board where I'm an admin... I'd lurk in the modcave and POUNCE on people who needed a bit of assistance. I get a kick out of helping people out. I'm weird that way.

I would ban myself and end this addiction - I'm posting threads on people's favorite hot dogs, for Christ's sake.

Get down on my knees and tearfully beg him to remove the designation, because no one deserves the misery, abuse, and workload entailed by being a moderator - at least in this forum. I'm the moderator in our regional forum, and generally it requires no work from me at all, which is much preferable.

Already done the mod thing for a game company.

Friendly but firm was my approach.
I am not always quick to Deat because sometimes the trouble makers liven up a place.
I would of course get a new identity so you would have to guess who I was? ;)
