I used to follow them very closely. But then came the Napster thing, and the selling out thing, and the string of shitty albums thing, and finally their ultimate bid for mediocrity -- touring with Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park! Hell, I can barely respect Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park for touring with Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, but how the hell can I respect what was once one of the most influential metal bands in the world for copping out like that? They could have been a headline in the annals of musical history, now barely deserve to be a footnote.

Awesome, awesome, awesome album! Definitely their best, imo. I'm just thrilled that with their new album, "Once," they seem to finally be breaking into the American scene!

Yeah, Once was great, but not as good as Wishmaster IMO. Living in Sweden comes with the advantage of easy access to all the greatest metal groups. :)
And since I'm posting again, I might as well add Rhapsody: Symphony of the Enchanted Lands II.

I've always found picking three albums as "the best" to be a really difficult decision and it changes year by year (although obviously not due to new releases) depending on what I've been listening to...
So for now:
Metallica - Master Of Puppets (all other metal albums pale into significance)
Pearl Jam - Vs (The album that saved my life)
New Model Army - Ghost Of Cain (Everyone should own this, it's simply beautiful)
Harbour Terrace
10-02-2005, 11:11
i can't believe no one has mentioned the hives yet...so
the hives - everything!, i haven't heard anything of theirs that hasn't rocked

the d4 - 6twenty
greenday - american idiot
the music - welcome to the north

Well... again, I beg to differ. It's slow and sludgy with a very experimental overtone to it. I love the production on it. The album wouldn't be the same without it.
p.s. I love your Last Temptation Of Reid album. :D

MOP is arguably THE definitive metal album. I don't think any other album encompasses musical talent, songwriting ability and just plain good songs as well as this. Eight tracks all with a personality of their own, all beautifully composed and THEY ALL ROCK.Tastes differ.. especially in metal
Btw, i believe the best songs on MOP are Battery and Leper Messiah (the faster part has got some good riffs)

You're kidding me, right?
Partially. They seem to have 2 or 3 good tracks per album since Land... and then the rest sort of all blurs into an incoherent rage.

And of course to add "The Album that wouldn't die", Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty. Something like four or Five number one songs from the CD, and rarely goes a day without hearing at least ONE of the songs from that CD on the various radio stations at work (We have to switch to keep everyone happy and make it fair for all).
I Won't Back Down, Free Fallin', Runnin Down A Dream, Love Is A Long Road, Face In The Crowd, and Mind With A Heart Of Its Own all got airplay, and the other songs on the CD were great as well.
That and it had the pause on the CD while owners of records, or tapes, were busy flipping over the album, or cassette... :D
Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of the Moon"
The Doors "L.A. Woman"
Scientist "Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse of The Vampires"

Personally, I think Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is better.
I love all of them and think they're all great but Train of Thought was the first albulm I listened to, first Prog albulm I listened to in fact, so it's always been the one that stands out to me.
1. Fear Factory- Obsolete
2. Pink Floyd - The Wall
3. KMFDM- Symbols
