It's a difficult choice, but I would probably go for "Inbetween days".

I can't stand The Cure. Robert Smith's voice annoys me more than just about any other vocalist except that bloke who sang for Stone Roses whose name I can't remember.

Anyone here old enough to remember The Mary Whitehouse Experience? When Rob Newman parodied The Cure doing covers of really cheery songs like "Happy Talk" or "Ernie the Fastest Milkman..."? That was just great. And then Robert Smith appeared as himself in one of the Ray sketches...

...ummm...

Anyone remembering this? No?

Ooh, the Cure!
I dunno...

Umm, "Plainsong" or "Friday I'm in Love" or "The Same Deep Water As You" or "Inbetween Days" or "A Hanging Garden" or "A Forest" or...

Okay, so I'm an obsessed fangirl. So what?

If you want to parody the Smiths, or Morrisey, I would be glad to spend all day listening.

Pictures of You is actually a really neat song, lyrically and musically. Though there's very little by The Cure that I don't like.

It's the main reason I like them.
A rich panoply of songs.

I could say the same about Richard Thompson, but there don't seem to be too many people who even know who he is.

Good songsmith, shite singer. I didn't like Swervedriver for the exact same reason, with the exception of Never Lose That Feeling. There's something about dense, sweaty guitar music topped with breathy, diseased vocals that repels me.

Coarse, diseased vocals are more my cup of herbal tea. :)

Must be. Because I used to say I hated indie, but I do love my early PWEI and Wonderstuff.

Sweet topic. I remember when I had "Robert Smith" hair and makeup in 8th grade. :p

Hard to pick a few among so many greats, but I'd say Lovesong and Close to Me. Just too many good ones to feel confident in my choices.

Hmmmm, 'A Forest' and 'Just Like Heaven'...

Ulitmately though I'd probably say 'Catch'' - bloody great song; too many great Cure songs to decide between in fact :)
