I have this problem

I have this problem that reoccurs every deep and dark December. In restless dreams I walk alone 'neath the halo of a street lamp. The autumn winds grow chilly and cold. I hear the drizzle of the rain on the side of a hill in the deep forest green; still all around me silence like a cancer grows. Friends just can't be found, and I'm empty and aching and I don't know why. I find myself weary, feeling small, looking towards the moon that rises over an open field. All lies and jests, without no seams nor needle work, but I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died. And so it ends, kickin' down the cobblestones.

So what do you think is wrong with me?

You dream like a novelist/poet.

You might be having issues with meaning in your life. Failing to see your place in such a vast world, and feeling that you cannot connect with anyone.

Of course, your recurring dream is far better than mine.

Um ... you're mixing too many metaphors and listening to too many sad ballads? ;)

This is strictly guesswork, but ....

You say the dream is recurring every December. The timing seems unlikely to be coincidental, and the imagry is dark, cold and yearning for the light. So, at one level this could be just a manifestation of Seasonally Affective Disorder - one that catches your imagination (poetic imagry) - and you might be advised to invest in a sun lamp.

At another level, from your postings on this board, you have a very strong relationship with the Divine which you percieve as being within yourself, thinking of it in symbolic terms. You seem very clear on this, and this relationship is clearly very important to you. Could the dream signify a yearning for a relationship with an/the Other? (The forest being your life, the hill your self and the road your journey. The moon and its light being self-evident.) That without such, feelings may turn inwards and whither? Winter is traditionally the time for introspection.

Or the simple answer to your final question could be that you're missing something/one, and you're sad about that. But I'm not sure I would characterise that as 'wrong'.

You have the CD of Simon And Garfunkle's Greatest Hits. I suggest switching to J-Pop, although that may cause a nightmare even more horrible than the last.

Haha, thanks. You know, if I never loved, I never would have cried. But no worry; it's all troubled water under the bridge, now. :D

That is very insightful use of symbolism. Thank you.

It's an -ism! That means we can all do it. :-)

I can never tell if people are kidding, so I'll respond seriously. Basically, it's just what you did --assigning meaning to the poetic imagry. You have a natural talent for it (unless you were kidding and it's a learned skill).
