The new show from Fox...

That American Dad show, yeah that one. I just watched a part of the preview thing that was so heavily advertised, and well, frankly...the show sucks. So far I haven't seen anything on it that ranks up even with the worst episode of Family Guy.
So, yeah, that's all I really have to say.
And the German Goldfish is retarded.

The guy in the American guy show looks like the other guy from Family Guy.
The only funny person on the show was the CIA Agent. The other ones were just crap.
And wtf, an alien is David's counterpart? They have a FISH as Stewie's counterpart?
Fruitier than an apple.

It does suck. It's no where near as zany as Family Guy even though they have their similarities.

oh man American Dad was great

did you by chance mean brian instead of david?

I liked it
did you by chance mean brian instead of david?
Yeah Brian is what I meant. I mistake Brian and David, those names, for whatever reason.
This show doesn't hold a candle to Family Guy. Sure, it had it's moments (the "orange alert" and Bush talking to God were pretty funny), but I can't see this going too far. The jokes that were funny could EASILY have been one-liners on Family Guy. The alien and goldfish were annoying. Overall, I'm not impressed.

Feh.
It wasn't that great. Although, it was certainly better than the half-length thing that The Simpsons threw together before it.

And it still doesn't hold a candle to Futurama...

overall it seemed kind of like a joe and bonnie relationship more than anything... like if joe wasn't paralysed, he'd be the cia guy...

That was half-length? Simpsons came on late because of the Superbowl so I had nothing to base it on. I did feel that it was pretty short...
It was OK, but it just didn't do it for me. I might watch a couple of the episodes in May. If they suck like this one, I'm going back to Family Guy on TBS and Adult Swim. The fish that "replaced" Stewie was crap. You can't replace Stewie!
Since FOX made fun of CBS News, I wonder if there will be a lawsuit.

That thing about the 19 year old dog was pretty damn funny, though ... one good crak up moment for me ... when he's draggin' that dog down the sidewalk.
Otherwise ... meh ... boring.

I thought it was redundant and immature. I watched on a 60" flat screen in HDTV Digital Cable and it still sucked. You know a show is bad when not even that can save it. :(

Oh quit bitching everyone, just because it wasn't completely brilliant like Family Guy doesn't mean it sucked. Have you seen any of the other crap on television lately? How 'bout that reality show where the woman has to decide who's her biological father? makes me sick.

I wasn't aware HD made a difference in animation.

nice and crispy - not like the difference between watching RL stuff, but it does make a difference. Either way, I was being facetious. ;)

Not comparing it to anything else on television.. how about that? If it were not meant to be a knock off of Family Guy.. it would still suck goat balls. Mercifully there are five hundred additional channels on DTV I can go to when that show comes on, hopefully it won't clog up a good time slot and bump a better show. Then again it could and we would all get a chance to explore something more worthwhile on another channel? I would rather watch Futurama reruns. Bender alone would run circles around American Dad. I found the alien voice over of Paul Lynn was annoying as all heck, the perverted goldfish was a close second. But hey, we are all entitled to our own opinions, that was after all what this thread was about? :)

I think both shows are funny for different reasons. If you watch it expecting Family Guy, you will be disappointed. If you try to like for what it is, you'll enjoy it much better.

American dad is just another attempt from FOX to make an animated sitcom that had failed once again.

That and Joe would have to be wacko-paranoid...and who here wasn't thinking that Hayley HAD to be a lesbian? Never mind that some guy was coming after her...she did shoot him down after all.
