Infallability

I just love infallibility (http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07790a.htm). Now if you click on that link, you will get a four million page defintion. But in short, infallibility means that the Pope in union with the bishops can never be wrong as long as he does not contradict prior Catholic dogma. This is of course a Catholic belief, hence Pope and Catholic dogma.

But really, I just love infallibility. The practice of infalliblity was instituted by a Pope for a Pope. He basically got up and said, "I can never be wrong because I say so."

It's just wonderful!

My point is: infallibility is the stupidest thing on earth and another reason why I wish I wasn't Catholic. But know that I have renounced my faith, please enlighten me as to why I should return to the heresy and ignorance, I mean why I should return to my faith...

Because it gives good dental and an after death insurance plan?

No; I cannot see the logic in living a biased life.

I need some AD insurance.... Or I can make a company. I will start on the Advert scheme now.

1) IN THE BEGINNING, THERE WAS BOTH EVERYTHING AND NOTHING, INFINATE PARADOX AND COMPLETE LOGIC, UTTER CHAOS AND TOTAL ORDER.

You should trust the papal bull. You, the poor lost soul, wandering in this wide and wicked world, all alone, are clearly in need of direction. We, in the papal office, have a direct line of contact to our Lord, who can advise us on all maters spiritual and pecuniary. Return to the fold. Feel that warm glow of security, when you realise that you will be forgiven all your sins.

Or something like that.

Well, they gave you (in the link you posted) their answer, and it's your choice to listen or not. I'm sad you didn't, but there is little I can do about it when people don't listen to others in civil discourse.

"I can never be wrong because I say so."He's only infallible speaking Ex Cathedra (From the throne), which (while fundamentally as stupid in concept) has been done twice (I think) since papal infallibility was initiated. So, Popes recognize that they're fallibile when speaking of their own authority, but could hire four people to carry their chair around in a litter and be infallible all the time, if they liked.

Zekhaust, for quoting the entire OP in the first reply, I'm gonna slap you.

Everyone is biased. Some of us just admit it.

The concept of infallibility is a device to allow the pontiff to have the final word in any argument that might damage the pope's authority. Think of the monarch's divine right to rule.

All authority figures invent some religious or sacred sanction to their control to reinforce their basic message: "I have all the money, guns and power. Turn against me and I'll squish you. Moreover, you'll burn in hell for all eternity too. Got that? Right, bring it on.."

If you study the Catechism of the Catholic Church, you would see that infalibility doesn't mean the Pope can never be wrong. The Pope can't look to the sky and declare it to be yellow with pink polka-dots, nor can he declare it to be 3 AM when clearly it is 1 PM and a late lunch is being served.

All that infalibility means is that when speaking on issues of faith, on issues of doctrine, and giving revelation from God, the Pope is not in error, for the Holy Spirit moves through him, speaks through him.

But it is important to note that the Spirit moves as it will, and will not give voice to the arrogant and the haughty, only to the humble. That is another important consideration in determining when the Pope is infalible, and when he is not.

You're Catholic. Read your Catechism. It's all in there.

(P.S. I'm Catholic too)
