I like techno, new wave(look at my name/motto), industrial, gothic, ambient, house, drum n bass, breaks, big beat, electro, darkwave etc etc etc
some ska and punk
definitely not rap, country, folk, boy bands (why do you need to have 5 members of a "band" and none of them play an instrument??) or grunge
Old school punk, grunge, stonerrock, blues, some metal, and good ol' alternative rock do it for me, mostly.
I like some rap and industrial stuff, if it's done well.

(why do you need to have 5 members of a "band" and none of them play an instrument??)
There are a million good arguments you can use as to why boy bands suck, and that is not one of them.
There are many good musicians who performed with a backing band.

I don't like any pop, country, gospel/anything christian, classical, oldies, rap, hip-hop, r&b, etc..
The only rap i listen to is The streets, and Audio Bullys, and they're british house music anyways, not rap...

Hmm. I like classical OriginalSoundTrack's. Enya, and LoTR soundtracks stuff.
I prefer music where I can think at the same time. Just creates the muzak or ambience for my room.
If not, once in a while, the normal teen stuff, like Linkin Park, Evenscence, rock metal neo rap techno house bla bla bla..

What I meant was that there is no need for what is essentialy 5 lead singers all in 1 group, not the fact that they sing versus play an instrument. I agree that there are many great musicians who sing rather than play an instrument.
It would be like having a band of 5 drummers and nothing else-- no guitarists, no singers, etc-- just superfulous.

Linkin park is poser rock (rapcore, softcore, etc.) Green day is Pop-Punk
And here is a good example of screamo i guess...

Screamo is emo that wants to be hardcore.

They are not all lead singers, there is an organization to their vocal ranges that allows for them to perform the compositions given to them.
Now if it is the content of those compositions and their skill in performing them are the aspects that you don't like, then you have an argument.
You know what, I will just shut up.

Was that all stuff you like and listened to though?.
It is fucking great having this much music though, I just sit on my couch with my sorround sound and have winamp going on (not very) random play. The random play on winamp is pretty dissapointing really, I dont see how it manages to choose 2-3 songs by the same band in a row when it has about 90 different bands to pick from.

A great deal of the space was copied directly from friend's CD's and were all albums that I enjoyed listening to. Some of the files were songs that I had downloaded but never really listened to.
The computer in question is in my bedroom, but I have audio cables running to the surround sound in the living room. Normally I listen to Yahoo radio, though. I have launchcast Plus, and they normally stick pretty well to my ratings, except for Journey and the Eagles, I can't rate them any lower, yet they come up each at least once an hour on their classic rock station.

Classical, old-school rock, metal, jazz, big-band (sinatra, etc), very little rap, classical style soundtracks, prog-rock, old electronica, mainly everything that was recorded before 1990 except Abba. Who I hate.

Rock, punk, industrial, metal, indie, chillout, I'll tolerate some dance/trance/house etc if I'm in the right mood, some goth-rock, hardcore, prog-rock, electronica.
I'll refuse to listen to modern R&B, rap, modern pop

I'm definitely a metalhead.
Dimmu Borgir, Rammstein, Hammerfall, Nightwish, In Flames. I really like orchestral metal. But what I loathe is lots of rap, and also boy-bands and assorted gobshite.

I am not averse to most music, but my favourites would have to be classical, baroque, Celtic (especially Irish), industrial, and some types of rock. The violin is certainly my favourite instrument, no matter the genre. (more violin in rock, c'mon!)

I am 54 yrs old, soon to be 55. I first started buying music at 13. At one time I had many hundreds of LPs; if I still had them and they were in very good shape I would not have to work. I tended to buy things that avante-gard at the time. Not exclusively, of course, but many. So that means they were relatively small numbers printed and many of them are worth hundreds of dollars, some probably more. At that time I bought rock, blues and some jazz and Celtic. today I buy CD's and I have hundreds. I love music. I trying to learn to play the trumpet and it is a real struggle, but fun. Today I buy Jazz, Blues, Celtic, folk and anything that strikes my fancy.

Don't worry, we won't torture you for too long.
Punk: None of the new pop punk shit. Old school '77, '82, hardcore, Oi!, etc.
Rap: I like Public Enemy and NWA but when I'm stoned I like to listen to newer shit like Afroman and Snoop and stuff.
And then some classic rock.

Ska! Wooooo
w00t for ska!!!
I listen to various ska, all waves (well not much 1st wave cause I can't find much of it) but a lot of 3rd and 2nd wave. I also listen to NON-MAINSTREAM pop-punk (except green day) and some alternative/indie...but what I can't stand are pop, mainstream "punk", rap, hip-hop, r&b, most emo (the accoustic stuff I like), but most of all screamo. I've never seen an emo or screamo band live that was really any good.

Metal is my favourite, but I'll listen to anything if it's done well. Rock, pop, classical, even rap. I just find that I like a large proportion of the metal I hear, compared to, for example, pop, which I like less than half of.
