I don't really especially like Big O(anime). In fact I usually just watch so I can make fun of all the stupid little quirks in it. However, I can't help but wonder, why does Big O always boot with the message "Cast in the name of God, Ye Not Guilty." Is he judging Roger or what?

I guess no one's ever heard of Big O. Don't worry, you're not missing much.

I've watched it a few times, but don't really know all that much about it.

its something like that - there was some issue once about somebody else not being able to start up the robot because they were judged guilty.

and i love the ridiculous theme song.

Yeah that has to be the mos hilarious theme song of all time. I love how its just has random things spinning in the foreground, then it pops up, "NEGOTIATOR" "ANDROID" "BUTLER" "OFFICER" instead of using their names. :D

On a different note, but still pertaining to adult swim, did anyone see the promo for Robot Chicken. Me and my roomies did and we rofl'd for at least 5 min. straight. :D

If you're a jackass, you're guilty, and Big O says No.

Agreed, I do not dispute this fact. I just love to make fun of the show. Its so easy to do.

Big O is dull for the mecha, but the rest of the story is somewhat interesting, if you're used to overdone poetics.

Yeah, I do kind of like the film noir aspect of it, but many time it will have abrupt shifts from this seriousness to some pathetic attempt at commic relief that seems just so out of place.

And I think we once renamed the 'Mega Deus' (the series' generic term for mecha), as 'Mega Douche'

Gundam's fine. Evangelion, on the other hand, is just plain shitty. Vandread is a good mecha anime.

I not quite sure why anime has become so popular in the US. There are a few good ones but the majority of it is crap. Even worse than Hollywood in the good to crap ratio IMO.

Big O ruled because the Butler at one point jumped off a ledge with akimbo pistols shooting at a spider-tank-robot saying really calmly "You sons of bitches". Thats everything you need right there: a butler, jumping from something high, akimbo pistols, giant robots, cool reading of line. Can't go wrong there.

Also it had a theme song that ripped off Queen's Flash Gordon.

I never noticed the Flash Gordon thing, but now that I think about it, you're right. My favorite scene with the butler is ,when Roger and some other people are attacked by heilcopter, the butler pulls out a miniguin bigger than himself from just out of nowhere and starts blasting the shit out of the copter. :mp5: Me and my roomies rofl'd at this as well.

Ahh yes, but there is some awesome anime out there. .hack//SIGN comes to mind.

Cast in the name of god Ye not guilty is also refering to how executions are not sinning.
