Why am I sick?

Ok here is the scenario and I want to know what you think.

1. Last week, a kid throws up in the classroom in my little brother's 1st grade class. This week, little brother comes home, throws up on carpet. Mom cleans it up, I roll up the carpet and take it outside. Mom is sick a couple days later. My sister is also sick, I think for the same reasons. A young kid (from the grammar school, but for some reason at my school) threw up in the gymnasium today.

So it could be that. OR...

2. At a friends yesterday, not thinking clearly, I decided I would taste test some soap. I tried to spit out most of it but I probably swallowed some. Last night.

3. OR... I got a breakfast sandwich from the school, with a peice of something hard in it (too hard and gross to chew- like a hard peice of fat or something.) I hear that a lot of times people think they have the flu and they really just have food poisoning.

I started feeling sick around 10:50 today (had the breakfast muffin at 9:05 or so) and had to make use of the bathroom around 1:20 and again like 30 minutes ago (all I had in me was water the second time!)

So which thing caused my sickness?

I don't think swallowing a little bit of soap can make you ill. I mean, if you ate whole bars at a time it wouldn't do you much good, though.

I figure it's probably some contageous disease, if everyone around you is being ill as well. If you exhibit the same symptoms as them it's almost certain that you've got it from them.

Depends on if the thing in the sandwich had any crunch to it (i.e. might have been a cockroach).

Probably the flu.

Maybe the implant the aliens put in you is leaking radiation.

Not the soap. Probably not the food. So I guess the little kids.

God hates you because some broad named Eve ate a piece of fruit 6,000 years ago. Now you are stained with sin and are destined to sicken and die.
The germ theory of disease is bullshit. It contradicts the word of god.

I voted for the 'flu, but I'm sure it's equally likely God hates you. I mean, we can't ALL be right, religion-wise...

Most likely God hates your mom and you are just a pawn in his brutal game. :p

Shit! He knows the divine plan!

*hails*

Yeah, I put the virus. I ate soap once, and it did me no harm. Except I could fart bubbles for a while :D

It's probably just the plague.

Oh god, I love aetiology! From the information given, I would say the epidemiological explanation of a disease going around is certainly the most likely. If you were to explain the symptoms, I could be much more definitive. I do not know the toxicological properties of soap, and it probably is varible depending on the type of soap. Food poisoning is not likely, as that involves mainly emesis and diarrhoea, which is typically distinct from most strains of influenza.

P.S. Do jnot use "virus" indiscriminately. It is only one type of pathogen. There are also bacteria, prions, and parasites that can cause disease.

Most of my family had the same thing just a few days ago, but in our case, it wasn't just throwing up! Ick! :(

Certainly you could steer it that way. I have faith in your medical prowess. :)

Definitely some virus.

I suggest you go to the doctor and spread some to him too.

If the doctor dies, the town is DOOOOMED.

Reason: Okay, not only is this conversation gross, we're also getting to borderline obscene, here.

Apparently, I missed a pretty sweet conversation. :D
