Well, those in the UK at any rate.

ID cards are back in the news, thankfully the news isn't too bad (not great either though). MPs and peers have decided that ID cards do put Human Rights at risk (ie, the proposed bill clashes with the ECHR), However it is doubtful that the scheme will be scraped, we'll probably get an ID-lite Card, same cost but with even less benefits.

Take you pick of which one you want to read, if any, or search on some of the other news websites (AFAIK the BBC has ignored this, But I could be wrong).

Provided we don't use dogs to get the fox we should be fine.

I alway forget about indymedia, despite the fact that I have it bookmarked. Well meh anyway.

Anyway, I missed it, being in Liverpool at the time. Kinda of an excuse. Missed a similar meeting in Liverpool though :(. For an anarchist I'm fairly shite at organisation.

Although I do like this picture:

The supposed benefits of these cards have been so torn apart and debunked by the media, it really makes you wonder why the government would rationally proceed with it.
Of course, politically speaking, it would be suicide to back down from it.
Politics can be so irrational.
In the end, this scheme will just be a financial drain on the system especially considering this government's record on technological improvement within public services e.g electronic medical records...

Also makes you wonder why some people are still fine with it.

Yes, our politicians haven't seemed to figure out that low cost != good quality.
