If Blair had not won the Labour leadership battle following Smith's death it is likely that he would currently be one of the senior cabinet ministers. What kind of minister would he have been? He was quite effective as a shadow home secretary but I reckon he might have been exposed as too reliant on spin and not good enough at actually attaining concrete goals. Any ideas?
what did Smith actually die of? did Blair kill him or something?

Smith died of a heart attack. Blair was supposedly close to him politically.

I think he would have ended up like Micheal Portillo, they both handle spin well but are lacking in actual charisma, and wouldn't trust either of them.
That said, I still think Portillo will go bact to politics and might even get to be PM.

 NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo!
What would he likely have been? Well, he'd have got bored and gone off on his own to conquer the known world.
What would he have been good at? I don't know. Is there a minister of toilets?
