What do you usually do to cheer you up?


To be honest, I'm feeling kinda down right now. Because something my dad been working on that would help pay my long overdue school fee's just went down the drain. Though recoverable, but it'll take some time and I'll probably have to borrow some money from uncles and stuff. Which is never a nice
feeling to have.

Usually I cheer myself up knowing that there's people getting it shittier than me, and I should be fortunate there's a roof over my head though it's a mortgaged roof :p, and friends and family who love me.

But there's times we'll still be down. Anyway, what do you guys do usually when your feeling down?

Like for me, when I'm down (I'm very rarely down).. is usually to play on my guitar. Play hard and play wild.. till some of my strings break sometimes. Either than that, I run the threadmill till i'm out of breath and see spots. And sometimes I speed (though not very smart of me) on the highway to the airport. Or call my pastor who has a listening ear, but he left somewhere else after a theology fight with another pastor. :p

I'll find someone who I know will make me laugh. I come here sometimes. There are a few NS-ers who never fail to make me laugh . I also listen to what I call "angry music". Usually hardcore alternative music and play it LOUD.

I take a hot bath, either while reading a book (I often turn to Jane Austen when I'm down) or listening to music... like Queen, Sheryl Crow, Lamya, or Hedwig.

Other times I'll blast music (like Aerosmith, Jet, or Offspring) and dance around my apartment.

Talking to my boyfriend, good friends, or mom often helps too.

I actually find that when I'm really feeling down, it's best to stay away from my computer and the internet - the connection with people isn't as strong as seeing someone in person or talking on the phone, and it's too easy to waste time without actually relaxing.

There's this Dutch band "Walls of Jericho" who have a female singer.... AWESOME!

I saw them at Eastpack Resistance Tour with Sick of it All.

I usually beat on the punching bag or scrap around with my training partners. When I'm out there I stop thinking about what's going on in my life and start thinking about not geting knocked on my ass. I allways feel much better afterwards.

They had only just set up the studio. We could record for free, so they could play with the equipment a bit. One day, 5 songs.... not too bad. The new stuff really rocks (err..... punks), but I don't have that on mp3 yet
