Why do people die? The human body is fragile. Age, disease, and injury take theri toll. When the damage is too great it ceases to function.

How do people die? The brain is deprived of nutrients and oxygen long enough to cease functioning.

Who dies? Everyone.

How do you look at your own death? Inevitable, but not frightening. Part of me looks foreward to oblivion.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?

I have had several relatives die including my Father and Grandmother. I was present at the emergency room when my father died, and was with my grandmother when she died. The grief didn't feel like it was deep enough. I felt like I should have hurt more.

What does it mean to die to you? Eternal dreamless sleep.

Is death permanent? Yes

Can death be prevented, and how? Not with current technology. Perhaps if we can someday cause neurons to regenerate, or store the pattern of neuron firing that is one's personality on a more durable medium.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

It doesn't change my views on death. I have no response to the accident. It occured. That's it.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

I have no preferences except I would like to avoid being tortured to death or dying under circumstances that embarass my loved ones.

Why do people die?
It's natural. The body gets old, and can no longer sustain life. It is the only certainty in life.

How do people die?
Not entirely sure I understand the question. The body, for whatever reason, can no longer function in a way that is required for continued existance.

Who dies?
Everyone. Without fail.

How do you look at your own death?
Since it's unavoidable, I have no worries about it.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
Several times, but the most memorable was a year ago on New Years Eve 2003. Not wanting to relate too many details, a friend cut her own wrists. It really shook me up, and I blamed myself for not being there.

What does it mean to die to you?
The end of life. It may sound like a stupid answer, but thats it, pure and simple. Just an end.

Is death permanent?
Yes

Can death be prevented, and how?
Only in certain circumstances, ie murder or suicide. But death from old age is, and always should be, unavoidable.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
It's cruel, but accidents happen, and nothing anyone can do will change that.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

I have no care for how I die. As long as i contribute something to the world, and am remembered with happiness, not sorrow or anger, it doesn't concern me.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?
Nope.

Why do people die?
Beacuase everything is transitory; matter and energy can be kept in a certain form for only so long before it 'attempts' to reform in a different configuration.

How do people die?
The body fails and is no longer able to maintain the state of conciousness.

Who dies?
Everybody, every creature, everything that has a state

How do you look at your own death?
It is inevitable, uncontrollable, nessesary.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
I have experienced the death of both my Grandfathers, I remember having to pretend to be upset (so as not to upset my dad) only to be genuinly upset later.

What does it mean to die to you?
To never exist again.

Is death permanent?
From my perspective, yes.

Can death be prevented, and how?
No.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
No change, bad things do happen, people do die.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
No time preference, I'd like to die peacefully or with purpose. No ceremonies.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?
No

Maybe you should have taken statistics first. This report has no validity, because the methodology of randomly posting a survey on an Internet bulletin board is incredibly flawed.

Why do people die? The body loses its ability to function, for whatever reason, be it gunshot, poison, or simply old age.

How do people die? I don't quite understand this question, could you please clarify for me?

Who dies? Everyone. Every living human. Eventually, that may not be the case, but for now it is.

How do you look at your own death? Release. A ceasure of existence. A fianl closure.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death? Many times. 3 grandparents, a stepfather, assorted pets, 3 of my close friends, an uncle, and many individuals that I associated with on a daily basis.

At first, when I was very young, it was distressing. I cried when my favourite teacher died of a brain tumor and wouldn't go to school for a while.

By about 11, I was used to it. People die around me often, and I'm fairly numb to it now.

What does it mean to die to you? A possible short sharp shock, and then nothing. It means I'm gone, is all it means to me.

Is death permanent? I would propose that with advanced enough technology we could reverse some cases, but I am not too familiar with human biology. From the little I know, it seems well possible that someone who has been dead a short time could be revived, but only if it wasn't from anything that did massive damage to them.

Can death be prevented, and how? Certainly, by treating whatever is causing it. The death itself, though, is not a treatable thing, I would think.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident? I'm quite sorry for the child. I can relate to this, and it's not a good thing to experience something like that for anyone. But it doesn't change my views any, really.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter. Well, this question doesn't really need to be hypothetical, as I am very capable of choosing my own death. In my sleep. I might do some sort of ceremony, I might not, but it would be whatever hit me at the moment, as that would be most fitting. I suppose it would be through poison of some sort, at least partially.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death? It would be interesting to see what sort of responses you got from the people in A.S.H. If you don't know what that is, it's a Usenet newsgroup. It stands for alt.suicide.holiday, and it's a newsgroup composed mostly of suicidal people. I am occaisonally there, and I know that people there have some very interesting opinions on death.

Why do people die? Because their body fails them

How do people die? illness, physical or otherwise; also suicide, murder, accidents

Who dies? Everyone, someday.

How do you look at your own death?

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death? No

What does it mean to die to you? To end my life as I now know it and to begin a new one

Is death permanent? The death of the life we are living right now is permanent, yes.

Can death be prevented, and how? No, it is rather inevitable

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident? Death doesn't always seem fair, but it's a part of life. It's an agreement we have with the earth; if we are given life, we must die.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter. I would prefer to just fall asleep and never wake up, and not have any unfinished business in the world. No ritualistic ceremonies before death.

What does it mean to die to you? The cessation of consciousness.

Is death permanent? Yes.

Can death be prevented, and how? Yes, by preventing the body from stopping, genetic modification to cells, etc.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull. The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident? It doesn't. People can be easily traumatized by it.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter. I would choose to die 1) quickly and painlessly and 2) while unconscious, i.e. sleeping.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death? Not really.

Why do people die?
because human cells cannot survive indefinitely, based on their physiological and chemical nature.

How do people die?
any number of ways.

Who dies?
everybody.

How do you look at your own death?
when i was eleven i was diagnosed with a medical condition that was supposedly going to kill me before i hit 25. my diagnosis has since been revised due to new evidence about my condition, as well as new treatments, but that is only a very recent change...for most of my conscious life i believed i would die by 25. as a result, the idea that i might live to 60 or longer is still sinking in on many levels.

also, because i was forced to confront my mortality long ago, i have long since stopped being afraid of it. i am glad to be alive, and to have this chance to experience life, but i am not particularly saddened by the knowledge that i will one day cease to exist.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
i have experienced the death of two pets, three friends, several family members (two of which were very close to me), and one enemy. both my parents are living, as is my only sibling. i have never had a spouse.

What does it mean to die to you?
as i said, death is the point at which brain function ceases. i believe that because i believe that a human person's consciousness is caused by events in the brain. living tissues may die without the individual dying (for example, my skin cells are dying constantly, but i don't regard that as my "death") but the brain is the only tissue whose death will result in any degree of loss of the individual themselves.

Is death permanent?
yes.

Can death be prevented, and how?
not indefinitely, but many of the things that can bring about death can be avoided.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
if a five year old boy watched his younger brother killed in that manner and did NOT have dreams about it, i would be concerned. that example has no impact on my views on death.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
i would prefer to die in as painless a way as possible, and i would prefer to have at least one year's notice to put my affairs in order before i pass away. i would like to live until my 70s, but not much past that, and only assuming that my health is in fair shape...if i am bed-ridden at 50, for instance, i don't want 20 more years of such helplessness, and i would rather die younger.

Why do people die? i feel that we have no control over the universe, sothere is some type of natural population control that is happening. this is how i explain senseless death, mass casualties, and the fact that people, out of the blue, just die.

How do people die? well, as a trade embalmer, i can tell you. the heart stops, and the brain ceases to function. in my experience, i have had people- die of- the flu, self inflicted gunshot wounds, knife attacks, self mutilation, pneumonia, brain and stomach anuerysms, cancer of all sorts, accidents that cause major organ trauma {car crashes and the like}, AIDS, broken hearts, old age, necrotizing fleshitis, strep throat, gunshot wounds by others, short life spans due to the complications of birth defects, still born babies, asphyxia, toxemia, i could go on and on, but you get the picture

Who dies?everyone: mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, grandparents, teachers , nurses and high school students. good guys, bad guys, and homeless guys. people who are afraid of heights, people who are afraid of death, and people who are afraid of themsleves. small, cute children die. so do small cute adults. big fat people die, and thin healthy people die. smokers and healthnuts, they die , too. people with a lot of friends, money , power and influence.they die. so do the conceived losers of the world. even the embalmer dies.people who mean the world to someone , and people who dont give a s**t about anyone all die. thats what is so fascinating about death. it is universal.

How do you look at your own death? i know it could be any time, any place, and anyhow. which is why i wake up every day and decide to live my life , on my terms.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death? nana. several aquaintances. two teachers. more pets than i could ever count. one of my closest friends.3 cousins, my godfather, and my god brother. all of my grandparents. all the deceased i work with every day. m reaction has always been pretty typical. mourn the loss, and move on. i had some anger issues after my friend killed himself. still do. the cases at work are a different thing. i treat them with dignity, and make them into memorials of themselves, so the families can grieve properly.

What does it mean to die to you?
gone. and hope you gave people a reason to remember you.

Is death permanent? oh, yeah.

Can death be prevented, and how? nope.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident? it happens all the time. doesnt change my views at all. the boy, hopefully has parent s who will get him into therapy so he can deal properly with the incident.i hope it doesnt define the kid for the rest of his life.

you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter. honestly. i would like to die when i feel as though i have no living left to do.there are other people who are closer than close to me, and we are so parasitic in life to one another, we would probally all die together. get together, at thousand steps beach in manomet, mass, and read all of our funny letters that we have collectivley written together, each month, for the last 17 years. (we started it as an epic, dedicated to the strength of true friendship, and it has topped three thousand pages) i think we would make sure we saidgood bye to our respective families properly, (yeah we are critical like that) some hugs, some back slaps, lots of tears, and finally some encouraging jokes. guns at temple- ready guys? one two three. i dont think people that know us would be surprised at this mass suicide. they would have known the six of us, and would have thought it fitting.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?[/QUOTE]
nothinh yet. i will have to think on it. seeing as i deal with this every day, i am kind of numb, in a way.

Why do people die?
It is the way of all things...a beginning and an end.

How do people die?
In millions of way, very few of them being fun.

Who dies?
Physically, we all do. Emotionally, we die a little every time someone we care about dies.

How do you look at your own death?
As the last great adventure of my life, the final question to be resolved.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
I have experienced the loss of immediate family - my reaction was grief and sadness, followed by acceptance and continuation. Pretty much how death is handled, from what I understand.
I have lost pets that caused me more pain than the loss of human acquaintances.

What does it mean to die to you?
Finality. I do not fear it, but I won't invite it in my home either.

Is death permanent?
In my mind, YES, until I have solid proof.

Can death be prevented, and how?
The biological act of death cannot be prevented, only somewhat delayed. Spiritually, many feel they will live in some form or another, forever.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
It is saddening, from a long way aways. I have no personal connection, so while I am not happy this happened, it does not affect my daily life.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
I would choose to go out in a heroic way if possible, doing good for others. My other choice would be quietly, painlessly, surrounded by loved ones, my eyes wide open.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

Why do people die?

People die because their body/mind has not the capacity to sustain what we call life any longer.

How do people die?

There are many ways in which people can die, I think a lot of people die spiritualy before they die physically though. The events leading up to this death can be from outside or inside influences, and vary both in scale and effect. Yes, it is possible to die a little.

Who dies?

Everyone. No one. We all die physically, some of us will die emotionally, all of us live on in the hearts of others.

How do you look at your own death?

As far as physical death, I wish only to be remembered for the way I lived my life - that death does not concern me, since it will come to us all in due time. Emotionally, I do not want to be dead - and in this fashion I have died a little, to die in this way completely is one of the only fears I have in life. I want nothing but to live before I die.

Have you ever experienced death?

I have experienced much death in my time. Only some in a physical sense, but emotionaly I have seen people crippled, tortured by their own spiritual demise - and this is a very painful thing to endure, I can attest to that.

I don't talk about these things on a detailed level - but I can confide in you that death has different effects on different people - as much I have seen. For some, the thought of death means only that they ought to be living more, living faster, living to an extent that there is no time to think of death. For others, death hangs over them like blade of a guiillotine, defining all of their actions, making them live cautious, carefully planned and executed lives - these are people who unknowingly die for their lack of living.

What does it mean to die to you?

It means I'm dead - and nothing besides.

Is death permanent?

I hope not - but of course I have no idea.

Can death be prevented, and how?

Physical death cannot be prevented, it can be prolonged - but it means nothing to prolong life if the person is no longer living emotionally. Indeed the emotional type of death can be prevented, perhaps even cured.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

I would say that it is likely both of them died, but that depends on how the older brother was able to deal with it. Some people are haunted by things, others aren't - I'd say it depends on the emotional attachment of one to the other. Maybe we can control what lasts of us in the present, by controling what people remember of the past when we die? No one wants to be forgotten. It's particularly troubling when someone dies at an early age, because they have yet to enjoy everything that is involved in truly living. This example makes me sad on so many levels - too many that I cannot talk about.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

I would want a death that lasted over the course of a day if I had to die. As far as when, well, there are so many things I have left to accomplish that I would prefer it much later than sooner. I am not living my life the way I think I ought to be at this point - nor to the extent I ought to be. That said, if I were to have a day before I died, and knew about it - I could accomplish the most important things I need to before dying. I'd tell my family that I loved them, and then spend the remainder of my day trying to enjoy (as in Scent of a Woman) the experiences that mattered most to me in life: I'd want to travel, to drive an amazing car, to have an incredible meal and a great glass of wine, and to dance with an amazing woman - I'd add that I'd like to hold her through the night as I slipped away. I want my death to be painfull, I want to feel it, to enjoy it. I think in some strange way that I will die a tragic death, and I'd like to die a martyr for a cause that I supported in life - such that my death will be an important one. Such that I will be remembered as good until the last moment.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge, that myth is more potent that history. I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts, that hope always triumphs over experience, that laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.

Why do people die? Because they are no longer needed in God's plan, and he has prepared a place for them, somewhere.

How do people die? Their body has endued pain or damage to the point that it is inoperable

Who dies? All living things. Except Cher.

How do you look at your own death? I fear it, yet embrace it at the same time. When I die, Im going home. I hope

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
I know this may sound stupid, but my cat died last November. It was one of the most painful things Ive ever experienced. I was overcome with grief and confusion. I always said "He'll die someday, pretty soon. He's getting old" But I NEVER said it will be tomorrow. I NEVER imagined it actually happening. I had so many questions. Why? Were is he? Do pets go to heaven? Maybe Ill know someday.
I've also had a near death experience, my mom died while she was pregnant with me. she was not breathing and had no pulse for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was ressusitated(sp?) and neither of us were hurt. Of course, I dont remember it, but it makes me feel lucky to be living.

What does it mean to die to you?
To no longer be constricted by a body's limitations, and to finally be free.

Is death permanent?
I hope not. I don't think it is

Can death be prevented, and how?
No. If God says its your time, you're screwed.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull?.The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
I have no opinion on this matter, only that it is a sad story.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
Its not up to me, but if I could have it any way:
Id like to die in the prime of my life, when I am happiest. I fear old age. The idea of waiting to die. Cant stand the thought, it's not what we're here to do
Id like to die in a prideful way. Fighting for I cause that I know is right, or saving a life. Id like to have everyone I love around me when I die, so I can tell them how sorry I am. I cant think of any special ceremony or anything.

Why do people die?
Because all living things die.

How do people die?
Some slowly, some quickly.

Who dies?
All living things die.

How do you look at your own death?
Not particulary ready for it right now. I think I still have a lot to contribute before I feel like I've done my job of living.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
Yes, many times, old family members, young family members, friends, pets. It's always hard for me to say good-bye to some one, living or dead.

I've never been comfortable with things like wakes, beacuse I always resent that the last time I see the person I cared about, they aren't really there anymore, I'm just looking at their shell. It's good for some people, just feels forced to me.

What does it mean to die to you?
For all the remaning bits of energy left stored in my body get returned back to the world.

Is death permanent?
Yes.

Can death be prevented, and how?
It can only be delayed.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

I feel horrible for the younger brother, I feel worse for the older brother, and would hope that he has people to support him as he finds a way to work through his grief. Doesn't really affect my view of death.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

In the same manner I was greeted into the world -- in the arms of someone who cares about me. If I had my druthers, I'd like to die as a very old lady after living a long and productive life, provided I could keep a decent quality of my mental and physical faculties.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

Nope. Have fun tallying the responses!

Why do people die?

It think it is because their brains are deprived of nutrients and oxygenation, or damaged. The so called deprivation may be an indirect result of an organ failure, or when the brain's structural integrity is compromised.

How do people die?

Most of the time, painfully.

Who dies?

Everything, from amoebas to sperm whales.

How do you look at your own death?

A good death is my finality. I want to die happy, in the most painless and serene way possible.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?

Yes, my grandfather's. I wasn't shocked, nor really sad. At the moment, I couldn't really feel anything. I didn't really think about it, maily because I didn't realize how important of a loss it was. But then, I was a child, so it's forgiveable. Time passed and I finally took conscience of it, but I wasn't saddened. He was ill, so death was more of a delivrance than a punishment.

What does it mean to die to you?

The end of a life.

Is death permanent?

Maybe. I'll answer you if I can! ;)

Can death be prevented, and how?

Finding a way to stop our internal clocks. Finding a way to avoid the destruction of cells, and more precisely brain cells. finding a method to preserve brains for ever.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

Huh, I'd be traumatized if I was the boy too.
But it won't change my point of view about death, which I consider inevitable, impersonal and necessary.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

I'll want to die when I'll will not be able to talk, control my bowels or become dependent, by a massive injection of morphine or something that'll give me a nice, slow, painless death while making me happy. After my death, I want them to store my ashes in a small cube made of compressed graphite and molybdenum, topped with an autonomous data support containing pictures, videos and texts about me, my life, my point of views and my message.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

It's a good idea!

Why do people die?

When chromosomes divide, they lose a little bit of genetic information each time. Fortunately, there is a string of repetitive nucleotides called a telomere. Eventually, that is destroyed by division and essential part of the chromosomes start getting lost. This has an adverse effect on health, and is invaribly fatal.

How do people die?

Lots of ways, most of them painful.

Who dies?

Everyone. You, me, the pope, Dick Clark... Well, maybe not Dick Clark.

How do you look at your own death?

Inevitable. And hopefully humorous.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?

Don't ask. It's too damn depressing for me to think about.

What does it mean to die to you?

You stop moving. Then you rot.

Is death permanent?

Yes.

Can death be prevented, and how?

Depends on the manner of death.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

No effect. It's a pity that the boy died, though.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

I kneel in front of a faith healer. He does his thing, saying that I am healed. Then my head explodes, showering everyone with blood, bone, and brain matter. That'll show that "faith healing" shit.

Why do people die?
-Such a difficult question, and yet such a simple one. One can spend their life trying to find an answer(ironic isn't it?). I say this:(;?) the individual gives life its purpose, and life is the only thing that concerns him/her, so long as he/she is living. (once dead, they wouldn't "be" anything, hence "dead") Death cannot be defined, as we are all currently living. As it happens, the only way to define death would be when your alive...Anyway, my point is that we shouldn't care why we die, as we are living now and should spend our lives living them. I'm not really answering your question, but there it is: don't think about it. You can't!

Who dies?
-As far as I know, everyone, physically at least. You could say that people "live on" in our hearts and minds, and don't they? Are the memories you have of someone not "real?" If not, then I don't know what is. Like I said before though, you are the one that makes something the way it is. Think about it: without you around to give meaning to anything, does anything have meaning? And if so, then to who, if not YOU?

How do you look at your own death?
-Some day, I am going to die.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
-When I was young, 7 or 8, I watched my guinie pig slowly die of a skin disease. We kept him in the bathroom, and covered him with a cloth, it was the least we could do. Periodically, I, my mom, would check on him, but there nothing that could have been done. He died, I don't remember when, just I remember feeling so sad...I never asked why he died. I felt guilty, for not treating him the best in life, I felt...not responsible, but just so sad. Other pets of mine have died, numerous hermit crabs, a cat, fish, and a frog. Death is a horrible thing. Maybe because we can't define it, we don't know what it is and so fear it.

What does it mean to die to you?
-To die, is to be nothing. There is nothing left of your being to sit back and reflect on life, there is nothing there to comprehend life or death, there is nothing. So, it's kind of hard to think about death, but so easy. Death is nothing, and therefore is undefineable.

Is death permanent?
-Death is absolute, permanent, it is the ultimate end of everything. But then again, how do I know?!?!? Hell, there might be some kind of an after life where we all walk around, immortal, forever playing craps and poker with Zeus, Thor, and Izignagi! How do I know? I guess I won't until then...

Can death be prevented, and how?
-To an extent, yes, death can be prevented. But why, why do we feel the need to live, and extend our life? Why do we have this "love" of life? What's so special about life anyway? Is it a loved one, or material possesion, that gives life its meaning? The answer is both yes and no. Life is what YOU make it. For me, life is playing the guitar, watching movies, UT2k4, doing well in school, freinds, among many other things. And shouldn't that be enough?

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
-Death in and of itself is a horrible thing, an unknown that we all fear and try to avoid as long as possible. The boy had his entire life in front of him, or would have. After all, he might not have lived quite as long anyway. But the fact is, he is dead, so it is useless thinking about what might have been. But he was young, and so could have lived long. In any case, his older brother will never forget it for as long as he lives. It was a horrible thing, and you can try and find an answer as to why he died. Maybe the driver was under the influence, or the child was impaired somehow. Say you find the answer. The kid is still dead. But somehow, knowing why he died makes his death more bearable.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
-Personally, I wan't my body to be shot out into space, to forever drift among the distant planets and go where no corpse has gone before...as to how my death will be brought about, I really don't care, as I will be dead when that happens. But if I am to die, I want it to be during the happiest moment of my life. To be happy is my ultimate goal. That or make another person really happy, even if it causes me sadness and pain. But then again, knowing that that other was happy would make me happy...And what better way to achieve happiness, then to die right during it?

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?
-We cannot define death; that is why fear it. And that is why finding the cause of death, though not answering the entire question, makes death more bearable.

And while you alive, try to focus on life. Death will come in due time...

Why do people die?
To make room for more lives to be awoken into this world for their chance to live.

How do people die?
A variety of different ways, but for the most part the brain ceases to be active and the body no longer functions.

Who dies?
While most people think there is no pattern, I myself think that a person dies when they have earned the right to move on to the next life.

How do you look at your own death?
I do not fear my own death, the only concern I have about it is the fact that my death will cause some people emotional pain and I dont want to inflict that on anyone.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
The death that affected me alot, I would have to say the death of my friend Kulpy. He died in a crash and when i was told about it I couldnt believe it I thought the person telling me about it was lying. after the feeling sunk in I immediatly thought about my other friend mike's family and him I called their house and all I could do was just sit there for alittle after they picked up. They I could tell were starting to get annoyed with no one talking and I finally said "Um, hi....did you hear what happend?" at that point I lost it I could barely make out any words and mikes mom asked me what was wrong I was finally able to get out what happened and she asked me who was there. I told her no one and she came up and got me so I wouldnt spend the day alone.

What does it mean to die to you?
To me I think it is just to ascend to the next phase in life.

Is death permanent?
No it is just the begining.

Can death be prevented, and how?
No, all death is inevitable. Everybody dies.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
My views are unchanged, death works in many ways.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
I dont have a point in which I would want to die but one thing that I would want to do is to have the time to say good bye to those few that are held so dear to my heart.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?
Death is not a thing that needs to be feared but instead it should be embraced, since it is the one thing in this life that is certain.

Why do people die?

It is the natural course of things. It may be viewed as simply another part of life.

How do people die?

Their body is in someway damaged beyond repair, usually either physically destroyed or worn down.

Who dies?

Everyone.

How do you look at your own death?

Just another part of my journey in "life", and one I am very much looking forward to, not to sound macabre. I'm in no way depressed or suicidal, but rather I look forward to death as a new experience.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?

Pets and relatives of mine have passed away. It was more painful on a personal level just not having them there, but it passed from my mind soon. I was confident wherever they were can't be much worse than where we are now.

What does it mean to die to you?

The body ceases function. It is a focal point in the development of the spirit.

Is death permanent?

Death, by its nature, would seem permanent, though I believe in reincarnation. To clarify, death of a single body is permanant.

Can death be prevented, and how?

Even if it were possible, I would not want to live forever.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

This does not affect my views on death, though I feel some pity for the boy, mostly because of his age.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

Wherever I die is the right place. However, if I were to choose, it would be outdoors. It'd be nice to orchestrate a small ceremony in a grove of trees during the spring or summer.

Why do people die?

To make way for new people. And I mean that literally and figuratively... birth, war, famine, etc.

How do people die?

Ooh all sorts of ways. Murder. Suicide. Natural causes. Disease. Famine.

Who dies?

Everyone. Even Bruce Forsyth will one day.

How do you look at your own death?

From as far away as possible. No, in all seriousness I have a family history of cancer so it's pretty much assured what I'm likely to encounter in my later years. The issue is something that genuinely frightens me so I don't give much thought to it.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?

I've lost a number of family members and a few friends, including a couple of close friends. From the family members points of view they were largely elderly relatives who we knew were "due" because of long-term illnesses, but the friends... they were just tragic, and unexpected. They were much harder to deal with.

What does it mean to die to you? It doesn't mean anything, because as I get older I accept it as an inevitable course of action. It means as much to me as tables and vacuum cleaners and socks. They all exist but I don't give them much thought unless it's necessary. I have two children, so my biggest concern is life, and the prolonging of.

Is death permanent?

Well people get resuscitated don't they? So if the event of your respiratory system packing up and that little but important pump stopping is death, then no, death isn't permanent. But if you've fallen from the top of a tall building and landed on a spikey-roofed van full of unstable explosives then it pretty much is.

Can death be prevented, and how?

I'm sure medical science will find some genetic way to end the ageing process. But on a day-to-day basis I'd suggest that death can be prevented by not doing things likely to cause death. Like not swallowing poison, or not wiring yourself up to the mains.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

When I was 7 or 8 years old I witnessed (briefly) a fatal road accident and I had dreams about it for weeks. But they weren't horrific or even particularly frightening. They were surreal, almost like I was telling myself "It couldn't happen to you". However, if it had been someone I know I think the whole issue would have affected me very deeply. I had a friend who died in an accident when I was 11, and it was his sister that found him. I simply cannot imagine anything so terrible as finding a friend or family member unexpectedly dead.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

3am, 60 years from now, death-by-36D-24-36 brunette, preferably under 30. :) I'm pretty certain however, that my death will be quite mundane and probably, like everyone in our family except my Grandad on my mother's side (who fought off both skin and lung cancer, bronchitis and a heart condition to die rather belligerantly of a stroke!) be of a cancer. But I'll worry about that when it happens.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

People who say death should be embraced are idiots. Fact: It is our goal in life to stave the Reaper off for as long as we possibly can. Life is for living, and for as long as possible. Whether you're a rich man in a mansion or a starving Eritrean under siege in a hut, your biggest wish will always be that your life is prolonged. It's the one thing you can garuantee about life: that it's there to be lived.

Why do people die?
natural inevitability.

How do people die?
1. slow decay of body, cell reproduction errors, biological reasons resulting in disease and ultimatley the brain gives up (from disease or unknown reasons), resulting in death.
2. suicide.
3. acts of violence resulting in fatal injury.

Who dies?
Everybody

How do you look at your own death?
Inevitable & unavoidable. not really too fussed as long as its not painful. some days i look forward to it.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death? never experienced (i'm lucky)

What does it mean to die to you?
the cease of all biological functions of homeostasis. one is then either buried or cremated. there is no afterlife.

Is death permanent?
yes - there is no coming back.

Can death be prevented, and how?
death can be postponed by medicine, but it cannot be prevented - with current medical science.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
an unfortunate accident and i feel for the boy. he however did, perhaps very harshly, learn the lesson that everybody dies in the end.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.given free reign, i would choose to die peacefully and painlessly in my sleep from natural causes - not through disease - surrounded by my family & loved ones.
however i have often thought of suicide and come to the conclusion that the most dignified method with least pain for me, and least unpleasant gore for loved ones, would be to sit in my car and pump exhaust fumes in through a slightly open window - thus suffocating. time of day: nighttime.

Why do people die?
Death is the final stage in the life cycle. It is a journey that all forms of life must go through.

How do people die?
I believe that more people die painful horrific deaths, than dying of natural causes, peacefully in their sleep.

Who dies?
People who believe that we only just die, and do not believe in an afterlife.

How do you look at your own death?
i’m frightened. I try to prevent a painful death. I do not have a problem with the “in your sleep, natural causes” death. I think that would be a wonderful way to go, just slip off from a dream, into the afterlife.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc.…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
When I was a child, I lost my great grandmother, she and I were very close. She was followed by my mother’s father (who i barely remember now) My next bad brush with death occurred when my Aunt Sue died. She was a good honest devout catholic. I loved her dearly, she passed on when I was a freshman in high school. Her death still haunts me. I lost a few family members that year, none do I remember as painfully as the loss of my Aunt. I lost several pets and distant relatives in the coming years, and have lost three friends and a cousin to car accidents (hence the reason I do not drive)
Last year, my Uncle (father’s sister’s husband) died. (heart attack)..right before Christmas. My aunt Deanell (father’s sister) had a heart attack as well, which was unusual that she had one only two months after her husband passed on. Deanell survived her heart attack, but died two months after from e. coli infections. This proved to me that death is inescapable. No matter how healthy you are, no matter how pretty, thin, righteous you are, no doctor in the world, not even the best surgeons and practitioners can save you when your number is up.

What does it mean to die to you?
the completion of our journey here on earth.

Is death permanent?
only if you look at it as such.

Can death be prevented, and how?
physical death cannot be prevented.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
in my time, I have witnessed horrible things. These tragedies shape us along our life journey. Though pain of loss is strong, and in the youth can affect you for the rest of your life...it does shape the person you become. It’s all fate.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
I would prefer to go in my sleep.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?
Death can take you at any time, even when you think you are home safe in your bed. I have not been truly at rest since the loss of my aunt back in high school, and most likely will always be haunted by the prospect of a painful death just lurking around the corner....yes, i know how Fu***d that is.

Why do people die?

It is an inevitable outcome to life.

How do people die?

Their brain ceases to work because it is no longer getting the blood and oxygen that it needs.

Who dies?

Everyone; young, old, rich, poor, innocents, and criminals.

How do you look at your own death?

I welcome it with open arms for death is the next quest... and since there is nothing I can do to prevent death, there is no reason to be against it.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?

Yes, my six year old cousin died when I was young. Other then that I have lost many pets that were very close to me.

What does it mean to die to you?

The body dies and the soul continues to roam the Earth keeping close to those they loved, until they decide to move on.

Is death permanent?

Yes, once you die it is over... Except your soul may go on.

Can death be prevented, and how?

No.... it might be able to be postponed with more scientific research.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

It was a sad thing, but it doesn't affect my views on death.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

If it were up to me, I would like to die in a freak accident that. For instance, I'd like to be hit by a falling space capsule or jet. But I would want it to happen at around 9:33 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon, but not until after I have been able to write letters to all the people who have meant something in my life.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

Umm.... not really.

Why do people die?
People die because it is the natural process. Nothing lasts for ever, and death is nessesary for life. Death is also the greatest driving force of science, whether we are trying to prevent it or cause it.

How do people die?
They cease to have brain function when something in the body fails and the brain cuts out.

Who dies?
Everyone and everything alive will die one day. It is not possible to live forever, something will happen to us some time.

How do you look at your own death?
I see it as something I gotta do someday, and before that I want to do as many things as I can on this earth before finding out want comes next.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
Only my brothers fish, which I was pretty indifferent to.

What does it mean to die to you?
Death means end of life on this earth, a transistion to whatever is next.

Is death permanent?
Pretty much. Other than zombies. *moan*

Can death be prevented, and how?
Not prevented, but postponed with medicine or some other means.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
For the boy it must be horrible. It shows death as an end of everything he knew about his brother in an instant.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
Me? If I had to go, it would be bearing the Standard of God and charging at the lines of Evil on the last battlefield at the end of the world. Why? Cause if your going to go, look cool, kick ass and burn a path to heaven in the process. If not, surronded by loved ones, after a long life, in my bed.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?
Ya, when I die, I want to have a Greek style funeral pyre, in full dress, with full ritual. Why? Because it doesn't get much more dramatic than that.

Why do people die?
Death has to exist, otherwise there would be no way to define life. People are alive, therefore people will die. All life has a beginning and an end.

How do people die?
In all sorts of ways, the loss of any vital organ, too much of something or too little, there are many ways.

Who dies?
Every single person. Every living thing dies.

How do you look at your own death?
I have no idea. It's not my concern right now, as it's not something I can really do something about.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
My great grandmother died, and my dog died, and my grandfather died, and my uncle died, and a guy on my team died (when I was still involved with a sport) and my little sister's friend died. My reaction, well, for some I cried, other times I just couldn't do anything and felt helpless.

What does it mean to die to you?
To cease to inhabit the mass of cells that is one's body.

Is death permanent?
Physically yes. I don't believe that spiritually it is, though.

Can death be prevented, and how?
No. It can be postponed, or delayed, but it is one of very few things that is truly inevitable. Our time here is limited, we should make the best use of it we can.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
I don't know what to say. That's tragic.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
I would die right after making love. Or in a hail of gunfire defending my ideals. Or maybe both.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

Not a very cheerful survey.

Why do people die? They die either because their cells are no longer able to reproduce, or because of a catastrophic failure of the body, or catastrophic damage to the body.

How do people die?In many ways; through suicide, illness, old age, accident or murder.

Who dies?Everyone, eventually. The very old, very young, sick and injured, mostly.

How do you look at your own death?I'd prefer to put it off as long as possible -- too many things left to experience still! I don't fear death per se; only not living long enough to accomplish my goals.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?I have had pets die, and I have had grandparents die. The pets I felt sad about, but the family -- a deep, desperate hurt and longing for them, and wishing they were still here. That fades over time, of course.

What does it mean to die to you?To cease... and I'd like to think there's something more afterwards, but since there's no proof of that....

Is death permanent?Depends on how dead is dead -- certainly people who have been clinically dead have been revived. As they say in Highlander, though, Once your head's separated from the shoulders, it's all over.

Can death be prevented, and how?Well, people can take care of their health, and can avoid stupid actions like driving under the influence, but ultimately, no. Delayed, yes. Prevented, no.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?*shudders* What a horrible thing for a five year old to witness; I'd have nightmares too. Terrible accident; poor kid should be in therapy. The accident doesn't change my views on death.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter. In my sleep, peacefully and painlessly, at the end of a long and productive life with my family and friends gathered around me.

Why do people die?

It's just the side effect to living. As human beings we were granted with the gift, or curse, of immortality. Our fate is for our lives to end at some point, whether young or old.

How do people die?

They die in various ways, sometimes painfully, sometimes at peace. All vital organs just slowly shut down, breathing gets shallow, the heart stops beating.

Who dies?

All living creatures, at some point or another. It's just the cross we all have to bear.

How do you look at your own death?

I don't worry about things until they happen, so until my death becomes imminent, it's not of much concern to me. The idea of death itself doesn't scare me, as it is the same path we all have to walk one day.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?

I lost a friend when i was 10, my grandpa when i was 12, my aunt two years ago, a cousin and uncle years ago, a great aunt a few years ago. I was surprised by the first death, she was the same age as me, just a kid, and the doctors didn't even know what she had. It was sad in the sense that she would never be allowed to grow up. When my grandpa died i felt sad for my mom, she loved him so much, but i didn't miss him a whole lot. He barely spoke English and i never learned how to speak Italian, so we didn't communicate a lot. It was sad the way all death is, but i didn't feel it all that deeply. It was the same way with my aunt, we didn't see her a lot so we weren't that close. My parents went to the funeral, i didn't, i needed to stay here and look after the dog. I didn't go to the funerals of any of the people i lost. My uncle i only met once and my cousin i never met, so i felt pretty far removed from that loss. My great aunt's death was sad because she died of Alzheimer's, so she didn't remember me or the rest of her family.

What does it mean to die to you?

It means to leave this mortal coil forever, to lose the life we have and never see this world again, which is what makes life so precious. Whether there is an afterlife or not i couldn't say.

Is death permanent?

I don't know. I am not sure if i believe in an afterlife of any kind and i don't know if i would want there to be. The fact that life is so fleeting and it might be all we have is what makes it so special. I think it would lose that quality if we had the chance to relive it.

Can death be prevented, and how?

No, it can't. I don't think there is any magic spell or fountain of youth to destroy our mortality and make us live forever. It's just not that kind of world, and i'm glad it's not. For the reasons i illustrated in the answer to the previous question.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?

I believe that everything in life, including death, happens for a reason, even if we don't always know what those reasons are. It's always especially sad when a child dies because it seems so unfair, but life isn't supposed to be fair, neither is death, no one ever said it was. Death is always tragic, i don't think there is such a thing as dying with dignity, it's not a dignified act, even though it's a necessary one. The accident itself seems more tragic because it took away a child's life and because it was probably painful and completely unforseen.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.

I would want to die in my sleep surrounded by family and friends, free of pain, probably at the end of the day. I would want my last day on earth to go to the end. I don't need any ritualistic ceremony, i would just want my friends and family to say whatever they feel they need to say to me. No higher power, or rites, or holy scriptures are necessary for my final moments. I have never been a religious person, it wouldn't really mean much to me. If reading a Bible passage, or some other religious text makes my loved ones feel better, they are welcome to do it, but i don't want it done for my benefit.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?

We should all be aware of the fact that moments are fleeting and life doesn't last forever, because it helps us realize how precious and beautiful life is. Death is just a fact of life, and pretending it won't happen to us doesn't change our fate. That being said, we should never be so concerned about it that it stops us from living because if we do that, we are already dead.

Hope that helps:)

Why do people die? They cease living.

How do people die? They cease living.

Who dies? Everyone

How do you look at your own death? I just hope I am remembered, at least part of me will live on in other people.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death? My grandfather, who was pretty much a father (I lived with him for several years), passed away about 8 or 9 months ago. It was eerie to look at him, knowing that he wasn't there.

What does it mean to die to you? Oblivion

Is death permanent? To the individual, yes. But in the grand scheme, death leads to life.

Can death be prevented, and how? Life can be prolonged, but death cannot be prevented.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident? Death is confusing and scary.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Why do people die? Philosophically this is the reverse of "Why do we live", the underlying question of humanity as such and stil unanswered. Biologically because some part of our body stopped working.

How do people die? In the strangest ways

Who dies? Everyone, unless you take into accouint religious text, where sometimes people are deified or become kami.

How do you look at your own death? With stoicism, because i cant do a thing about it.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
In the last few years 50% of my family died, my mother most recently. Sometimes i feel grief, sometimes anger (like my aunt and uncle, who worked so hard their whole life and died as they wanted to start retirement) and sometimes it feels right, like with my grandma, who lived an interesting, long life and died in peace.

What does it mean to die to you?
Non-existance. The person is gone, the body still there.

Is death permanent?
Yes

Can death be prevented, and how?
Nope

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
I dont feel this is worse than any other human being dying in a a horrible way. Tough luck.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter. Heart attack during an orgy of epic proportions. Time? 3 AM I am not too keen on rituals, so none.

Because we are living things, and that's what happens to living things.

How do people die?
In every conceivable way.

Who dies?
Every thing living.

How do you look at your own death?
As inevitable.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death? Pets, friends, family. Greif, numbness, moving on.

What does it mean to die to you?
The end. No more conciousness or existence in any form.

Is death permanent?
Yes.

Can death be prevented, and how?
Only temporarily.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
Traumatic, but hardly extraordinary.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
I'd like to die at 100, in my sleep, having been otherwise healthy. I want my loved ones to have a party, get drunk, remember me and donate my body to science. Burials and cremation are a waste of money.

Anything more you would like to conclude in this survey concerning death?
I'm more afraid of pain and sickness than of death.

Why do people die?
Because no one is indestructable

How do people die?
Many different ways. Complications bought on by old age, illnesses and wounds (resulting in either huge blood lose or irrepairable damage to vital organs) probably being the most common.

Who dies?
Everyone.

How do you look at your own death?
Inevitable

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
Pets aside, the first time I experienced death was when a friend died when I was 12 (so was he, exactly the same birthday and all of that).
Most family member that have died died before I was born. The only two family members I have known who have died were my great-aunt and uncle.
Those were the only deaths I have known that were close.
My best friends granddad died when he was 16[?], but I never really knew him, but that only effected me by proxy.

What does it mean to die to you?
Nothing, it is the end of life, and can happen at any time. It is inevitable too, so there is no point worrying about it.

Is death permanent?
Yes

Can death be prevented, and how?
No, it is inevitable.

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
On the accident, shit happens.
However, since I don't know the boy, I don't think I can say anything else on the matter.

Why do people die?
Their brain stops functioning.

How do people die?
Many ways. Usually finally ending by their brain stopping to function.

Who dies?
Nobody dies. We all live forever unless we get our heads chopped off, and the final surviving person would inherit superpowers. Arrrr Highlander!

We all would die. :p

How do you look at your own death?
If I lived a full life, then no problems! If not, it's kinda a shame that I never get to try.

Have you ever experienced death? If so, at what level (pet, friend, family, parent, spouse, child, etc…) did you experience that death? And, what were your reactions to that death?
Yup, Grandparents and some friends. My reactions? Well, it kinda differs according to how well you know the person and whether you believe that the person lead a good long life. Most of the people I knew who died young, it was really a shame. For my Grandparents, at least their no more suffering.

What does it mean to die to you?
For me, to live is Christ, to die is Gain.

Is death permanent?
No, I don't believe so. I believe God would raise us up at the last day.

Can death be prevented, and how?
Don't think so. Though we may prolong life, they'll eventually be a time where we get sick of living. :p

A five year old boy watched his younger brother’s death, who died when truck crushed his skull? The boy suffered dreams of this accident. How does this accident affect your views on death? What are your responses to this accident?
My responses? Thats a real pity. I would embrace the boy and tell him that his brother is in a better place. It's really a shame and sad when a person never lived out his life. And it's happening too often nowadays.

If you were capable of choosing your own death, how would you have it done? Include, time of death, how you die, and if you would do any ritualistic ceremony or such before your death. Include any other thoughts on the matter.
Hmm.. Probably go like a pastor I knew. Before he went, he was very healthy and fine, at a ripe old age of 80-ish. He had lived a long and fruitful life (well, fruitful to my standards, had children, grandchildren and lived a pleasent and peaceful life, brought lots of people to Christ) He died after having breakfast with his wife and friends. He just put his head on his shoulder and off he went.

Ritualistic? Nah. No need something spectacular. Though I'd love it to be a happy ceremony.

Don't worry. Be Happy :)
