Well my 3DO days say might and magic! ;) But lets clarify that to the NWC versions.....

Others I didn't mind:

Giants
The Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
The Delta Force series

There are others......

Well, I've only played 1 other RPG besides NS, and that is the weekend trial of Guildwars, which was pretty fun, but I don't see my self spending 50$ on it when it comes out.
So that's my favorite

gotta say KOTOR and KOTOR 2

KOTOR II gets released here (Australia) later this week. I'm going to buy it, because KOTOR I kicked huge amounts of ass. I love that game.

That, and Final Fantasy 3 for snes (or, FF6 for PS1, depending)

I so utterly and completely broke KOTOR 1. I bent that game over and made it my bitch. It was unfortunate.

I haven't had a chance to play KOTOR 2, as my 2 year+ old X-box has decided that it only like running Madden 2003 and Gladius, and nothing else.

I've beaten KOTOR in every way possible now- every class, both sexes, light side, dark side, all side quests- but it's still so much fun :p

I've got the PC version, so I don't have to worry about it not running. I do have to worry about that cursed bug that causes it to crash while saving occasionally, though......

Did you make Canderous or Mission or Zaalbar Jedi? Did you have every feat in the game for each character? What was your highest ability? Was it in the 200s?

I really mean I made the game my bitch.

Huh? You can make Zaalbar or Mission jedi? HOW?
I know there's some stuff you can do on the PC version, that you can't do on the XBOX version......like get the super-mega-uber-awesome lightsaber crystals from the Yavin Station.....

Mine's the Suikoden series for PSone and PS2. The PSOne ones (Suikoden I and II) are better because for some reason, the 2D has more charm.

You can make them Jedi on the Xbox version. It's the only version I have.

Pen and paper based:

Vampire: The Masquerade (and that whole system of games really)
Robotech
AD&D

Console:

I usually only really enjoyed the games that had excellent music. All of the following did:

Most of the Final Fantasy series, esp. FF3/FFVI and FF7
Wild ARMS
Lufia II
Castlevania Symphony of the Night (more of an action/RPG, but probably the best music out of all the games I've played)

PC:

Mostly old-school stuff like NetHack and Adventure. I also loved the Ultima series on the old Apple IIe. Oh, and I can't forget Dungeons of Daggorath! It was the first 3D dungeon-crawler. As far as I know, it was only for the TRS-80 computer, but I believe there is a windows port available.

As for newer stuff, the Thief series is probably the best FPS/RPG ever created. At first glance it looks like a standard FPS, but you can't just run-and-gun your way through or you'll die pretty quickly. There's a lot of thinking and planning involved if you really want to get the most out of it. It's one of the few games that has scared me while playing it too.

O tempora, o mores!
What is it with you kids connecting RPG to computer games? They are nice in their own way, but the amount of actual roleplaying is nada.

I like Shadowrun the best.

Star wars galaxies kicks ass!! Thats THE best RPG i've ever played on the computer.

Vampire The Masquerade, which i have grown more and more addicted to. :)

But, to be honest, the best RPG's are the ones like Vampire, Werewolf, D&D and M.E.R.P. If ya have a good GM, those ones are extremely fun to play!
