cause people have horrible taste. at least family guy has been uncanceled. and we'll have american dad to go with it.

Sometimes it's an executive that has a bug up his ass about a show, or a marketing team that can't get a handle on a show and shuffle the hell out of it or poorly promote it so something else comes down the pike. Something stupid could happen, like the FCC could increase the amount of production that can be owned by a station and they'll fill it with shows that are cheaper for them to produce since they don't have to bank on later syndication.
I've found that if there is one of those "greatest show no ones watching" it usually is a pretty good show. I don't know how that phenom works so predictably, but there it is.

Yeah I can't wait for family guy to come back. I wish they could bring back Freaks and Geeks too.

because people want their reality TV. Those shows take up all the spots where the good shows used to be. But then the day-timers want their soaps and Judge Judy and the late-nighters want their porn and murder shows. So, inbetween it all, the good stuff just gets canceled.

Network mishandling can kill a show real quick, see Family Guy that had its timeslot altered so many times which killed its ratings. Futurama I can't say quite as much about what happened to it but it only ended a season or two earlier than Groening wanted anyway.

eh. . .sorta. You have to order it PPV mostly. I think satiliate gets some of it and otherwise, they have the 'watershed' where they can start to show sexually explicit shows after midnight I think.

that doesn't explain Family Guy which was a smash hit. Everyone I knew watched it and they watched it religiously because it was so damn side-splittingly funny.

Everyone you know doesn't necessarily constitute huge national ratings unless you're personally talking about 4 million people or so. The ratings were down, it had a cult following that loved it and still do and its grown again since being put on Cartoon Network because it has a stable timeslot. It just sunk because of the way Fox moved it without notice.

Actuallly anyone I talk to in RL or online knew what the Family Guy was, had seen it, liked it and there were many debates on if it was funnier than the Simpsons. Well there were a couple misguided people who had seen it and disliked it.
If a show has a cult following then not everyone is going to know about it.
I actually heard that the Family Guy was too risque for FOX. I don't have a source to link to though.

because, good shows are for intelligent people. and intelligent people should be doing different things in life, that is typical of their personality type. so, why not cancel a show after a bit? they know those viewers would find something else.
the hows for dumbf***s go on forever, becasue that is the definition of a dumbf***. some one who does the same stupid thing over and over again.
