Cool list. Metallica are pretty cool live, but I'm pissed at you for being able to see Maiden and Testament, both of which would be so cool to see.

Tbh - not heard much of their music, but what I have heard is actually phenomenal! Going tonight to check them out and see what I think of them live.

Testament were fuckin brilliant and the fact that it was such a small venue made it even cooler! dudes were stagediving all the time - like 4 or 5 people a minute - and when one started getting in Chuck Billy's way (singer/frontman/giant-of-a-man) the dude went flying!
Oh and unfortunatley i dont really remember that much of maiden cos we kinda got high before hand :headbang:

I'll tell you who I wish I'd seen on their last tour - Anthrax. I bought 'The Greater of Two Evils' a couple of weeks ago and it is now one of the best albums I own, only topped by MOP and possibly Rust in Peace, although about equal with that one. Note: this does not include things like Zeppelin. Too different to compare in my book.

I was at Woodstock 2. It really colored my opinion of what a good concert ought to be. If people aren't getting naked and diving into mud between $4.00 Cokes, then it really isn't a concert. :p

Try to remember

Motorhead, supported by Saxon at the Hammy Odeon
Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, +many others at Knebworth
Iron Maiden at St Georges Hall, Bradford
Magnum ditto
Marrillion + Jethro Tull (A festival somewhere, Milton Keynes I think, very hot)

Lots of lesser known lights, and even once, to my eternal shame (I received free tickets for this OK. I did NOT pay) the Jackson Five (The London Rainbow Theatre)

If you've already got a few, consider this: it's like a best of that the fans picked, completely re-recorded with the new singer and guitarist. If you're a real fan of the original line up I wouldn't get it. I've only just got into 'thrax so I think it's cool, but others might not. Just a warning.

ah yeah im much more of a fan of Belladonna (original singer) than Bush. i just think that Belladonna suited Anthrax's sound more - i was disappointed with Sound Of White Noise and We've Come For You All cos it's not the 'thrax i fell in love with. but still, original songs (i assume including old Belladonna's stuff too) re-recorded has got to be cool.

Caught in a Mosh, I am the Law, Among the Living, Gung-Ho, N.F.L (although not as good as original). Some great songs, I believe. Anthrax: Music at the perfect mosh speed.

I'll be the one standing at the back of the pit with my arms folded grimacing at the young pups as they keep knocking into me and almost spilling my pint. I will however give a hand up to those that end up flat on their arse. I will be thinking one of the following things, determined randomly:

a.) If they ditched all the 'Woo-oohs' and started listening to something half-decent, they'd be a much better band.
b.) Not bad, but it doesn't come close to seeing Rorschach in '92.
c.) Christ, I wish the sound engineer would sort out that kick.
d.) Well hello, who is that attractive young lady over there with the dreadlocks?
e.) Fuck off and stop spilling my pint, I was going to hardcore shows before you were born.
f.) Make it stop. If I wanted to lsiten to this kind of shit I would go home and listen to Seven Seconds do it so much better.
or,
g.) No way. This fucking rocks.

Also, a couple of weeks ago I went and saw Bowling for Soup/American Hi-Fi and a different concert with Big N Rich.

I suppose that's what you'd call a diverse selection of music.

lol suprisingly accurate. i'm usually a combination of C, D or G. too young for B, or E (though i wish the over-excited moshers would stop spilling my pint... moshing is reserved for only when i have the energy and/or the band is really heavy, or if a nice big circle pit opens up around me  )

Not regularly, exactly, but I've been to a lot in the past year (mainly...wait, exclusively Keane.) I'm very boring and mainstream compared to you lot. :p

The Frank and Walters - Cleveland, '96 (I think)
U2 - Columbus, '97
U2 - Detroit, '97
Depeche Mode - Cleveland, '98
The Cranberries - Cleveland, '99
The Cranberries - London, '99
U2 - Cleveland, '01
Keane - London, March '04
Keane - London (Rough Trade and Astoria), May '04
Keane - London Forum, May '04
Keane - Cleveland, June '04
Keane - Amsterdam, July '04
Keane - Battle, August '04
Keane - London, November '04
Keane - Exeter, January '05

Coming up I've got REM in Sheffield this month, Keane and Rufus Wainwright in Vienna in March, and U2 in Dublin in June - I'm soooo excited!!!

unfortunately im stuck down in new zealand, so most of live music is crammed into the yearly 'big day out'

at big day out '04
- muse
- the strokes
- the d4
- the datsuns
- blindspott
- metallica (even though they sucked so much ass it was pathetic)
- elemeno p
- and some others, but they were the main ones i think

rippon '04
- blindspott
- the d4

orientation week '04
- elemeno p
- alien ant farm

big day out '05
- beastie boys
- system of a down (yet another ill fated big day out set, 2 times they have played the big day out, 2 times that they have had to stop halfway through becasue of people getting injured in the mosh pit)
- the hives (the greatest live set i have ever seen)
- deja voodoo
- the music
- the checks
- the bleeders
- grinspoon
- slipknot were there aswell, but i think they are just outright lame. and the only words the singer seemed to know were crazy, fucker, mother fucker, and new zealand.

This happened at Leeds in 2003 (?). The barrier at the front went down and they had to get the army in to plug the damn thing back into the ground...

...but it was as the sun went down, the clouds were red and SOAD treated us to a impromptu version of 'Thank You' by Led Zepplin...it was a very surreal moment...but the great thing was, the army finished hammering the stakes in half way through the song so SOAD finished 'Thank You' and went straight back into the song they were playing, at the same point they stopped without a pause. Great stuff!

can't believe i forgot top mention shihad! they were awesome, i was kind of gutted i couldn't be in the moshpit for them because i wanted to be at the front for SOAD. the soad set was awesome, even if it was like 10 minutes shorter than it should have been, while we were waiting for this guy to get carted off on a stretcher, daron treated us to an impromptu rendition of sultans of swing. the whole thing was kind of surreal. but the hives definitely rocked the most for me. i even got to meet them later on and i'm now the proud owner of a signed copy of tyrannosaurus hives! people, i await your jealousy!

Shit man, I was at Leeds this year too! And last year. I was there in the system pit (not that good a band, but the pit was fucking mental) in 2003, and I was down the front for Taking Back Sunday, Thrice and (for some reason) the GLC. Pretty funny, all in all.

I was there for that. I got lucky though, because I sufed out before the barrier collapse, but my mates were at the front about 10m from that. Said it was pretty bad, that girl getting stuck or something.

Saw them at Leeds Festival last year - they were brilliant, even though I'd not heard any of their stuff before that.

I do music reviews for my uni's paper, so I go to quite a lot. In the last few months I've been to see Six. By Seven, Manic Street Preachers, CapDown, Hell Is For Heroes, Hundred Reasons, Duke Spirit (currently my 2nd favourite band ever).
Going to see 65 Days Of Static tonight - ought to be good - and Rammstein on Monday - ought to be a-fucking-mazing.

And the cute one is coming with me.

Who are you into then, TEM
Hmm, well right now i'm enjoying the music of taranula hawk, sunburned hand of the man and keelhaul. The last show I saw was Sunn0))) in glasgow, couldn't hear for about two days afterwards.

Saw them when they played Belfast here a short while ago: I remembered to bring my earplugs. It was something of a pity that they played in an L-shaped venue here, as it really didn't help the low-end - there was interference all over the place and lots of dead zones. It was however very entertaining watching as people moved about in slow motion looking for spots where the low-end was being reinforced instead of cancelled. I found myself standing in one spot with my feet a foot apart leaning back at an angle of about 15 degrees, as that seemed to be the best way of catching the low frequencies. I think it is the first time in years that I could feel my septum vibrate due to volume. Very nice.

Shit man, I was at Leeds this year too! And last year. I was there in the system pit (not that good a band, but the pit was fucking mental) in 2003, and I was down the front for Taking Back Sunday, Thrice and (for some reason) the GLC. Pretty funny, all in all.

Haha, fantastic. Where were you camped? I was in yellow...thats how far I walked before I gave up and got out the beer :D

I was laughing to myself earlier when I saw the queue of fourteen year old metallers up from the country for the day outside the Megadeth gig in Belfast. They were all keyed up and ready to rock until half ten at night when the gig was scheduled to finish...

Going to go see Fightstar tonight at Leeds Metropolitan University!!!

My Dad works at LMU. That has to be the most amazing coinscidence in the entire history of the world.

Ok, maybe not. But still...

And to answer the question i dont go to many gigs, next one i'm off to is Embrace, who are playing an open air gig in...erm...Leeds Mllennium Square, about 2 minutes from the uni.

...

The fact that those two very slight coincidences strike me as the most interesting thing that happened today makes me worry.

Every time someone mentions the band called Embrace I still think first of Ian McKaye's old band in between Minor Threat and Fugazi.
