I'm a freelance writer for my regional weekly paper, The Northwest Weekly.

I've actually read that paper when I went fishing on the Skeena. Not the best written paper, but not bad for a little local one. I laughed at some of the editorials in it though. Kind of silly.

lol...yeah, i think it's pretty good considering it's free so we don't have much of a budget, and we have a small staff. I like that it's an independent paper, it's not run by any big media conglomerate, like our daily paper is, so we have more freedom with regards to what we write.

Full time college student majoring in Sociology and getting a certificate in American Humanics. In a few weeks, I will start part-time work for the university doing their web pages. Once another T.A. job comes up, I will take that as well, but those are rare at my university and I already took one T.A. job so they might give it to someone else. Once a professor starts new research, however, I will be number crunching for them.

I'm also looking for a summer job in the Non-Profit sector and want to somehow relate it to Sociology since I'll be doing my honors research in the fall.

Unfortunately, even for that they expect you to show up for work. I'm bipolar. Until I'm stable, I'm unable to keep a job. When in a depressive state I can't get out of bed. When in a manic state I have better things to do. Like drive to the next state and buy a house. Besides, librarians do a lot more than read.

:D
Usually I just come up with an ingenous plot to make a lot of money and end up with something like $50 worth of packing peanuts in my living room and a realization that I forgot to actually make the plan before acting on it.

Oh boy, does that sound familiar. How about $300.00 worth of beads that I got bored with after making three necklaces. Of course, there was also the time I got a divorce and followed some guy out of state.

I am a 3D modeller/animator, who also specialises in motion graphics - my work appears on television, film, print media and proprietary kiosk-based game systems. I am also, unfortunately frequently between regularly -paying gigs. Oddly enough, right now I have three projects on the go at once - and not one of them is paying well, or soon. I've had offers for supplying my work for free...one of which I might just consider for the potential exposure.

This business was great five years ago, but now I'm seriously entertaining the notion of working at a coffee shop in order to make ends meet.

Animation? Cool. I tried to get into that, but I just couldn't get my head around it all.

I used to make well over 50K with full benfits - nowadays studios offer a take-it-or-leave-it $10/hr, short-term part-time contractual gigs...no benefits, no job security, never enough work, and incredible competition.

I got into this line of work 'cause I like the work, not 'cause I wanted to spend every waking moment not spent in front of my computer schmoozing with studio managers and pressing flesh trying to sell my services.

Blehh. Now I'm depressed again.

I, too, am researching for my PhD (biomedicin/immunology). Besides research, I take courses and have about 10% of my time allocated to teaching "ordinary" university students.

I tried going too college but it was so monotonous. More over they taught me no more than i could learn on my own in far less time. Not too mention every instructor felt the need too throw in their 2 cents worth rather than just teach the facts.

Aren't we funny?

Anyhow I'm a poli sci and finance duel major with plans to attend law school after graduation. As for work...well...I do the usual sort of bullshit jobs that get me through college with some cash in the pockets.

I intern off and on, although it's hard cause I don't get paid for it. I do want to be a lawyer though.

What exactly turned you away from the job?
