Please list the potential candidates from each party that you think will run!

Also, please pick the winner of the election!

It will be interesting to look back 4 years from now and see how accurate we were.

I think two more canidates will run, both very simalar, as is the norm. Seems like southerners are the norm these days, so that will be in on it. Oh, and I'm betting its going to be a democrat that wins, since the republicans have held the office for 8 years now, so people will want a change, as is the pattern.

I'm sure that what ever President we get will scapegoat the first years, then be a scapegoat for the next President, as is the American history. Oh, and I bet they are going to be well off in the finacial department.

I've heard of Talks about Hillary Clinton running, though hard to say. If the Republicans don't like her, they will just hit her with tons of spotlights till the shadows are seen and scare people away from her. After all, every politican has "skeletons in the closest" that they don't want out.

To be honest, there is no way another Bush will win, Americans don't really like electing the same family over and over again. That and the current Bush isn't doing so hot, and the moment another Bush shows up, well, people will beg for his blood, lol.

I personally would vote against Jeb, even if I liked his platform, simply because I don't think one family should be in the President seat for so many times within so many terms.

Foolish unenlightened ones, don't you know our presidents are predetermined and manuvered into power by the Iluminati? :p

Here's my wild guess:

Nancy Kassebaum, Republican
John Edwards, Democrat

Kassebaum wins.

Most of us are more concerned with 2006 right now. We'll worry about 2008 after that.

You should be more concerned with 08 as you really won't make any headway in 06 anyways!

I can tell that you've really thought about this.
That's deep man... deep.

I say:
Republican: Superman.
Democrat: Dr Doom.

And the winner is Dr Doom, every time.

With the Republicans succumbing more and more to religious fundamentalists, I don't know, but I'd like to see McCain run, and win.

There is also talk of Obama running on the Democrat side. I haven't looked into his politics much, so I can't really make a judgement call.

Winning in '08 won't matter if we don't gain some ground in '06. The President is only useful if he/she has the backing of Congress.

LOL. There's basically one in each of those lists that I might want to vote for. Chances are, the ones I don't like will get nominated and I'll have to do the dance of the lesser evil again.

I think the converse is more appealing. The government functions better when the President and Congress are from opposing parties.

The GOP popular selections are guys like McCain, Jeb Bush, and Bill Frist...I don't see any of those guys getting it. Same with the Dems; Obama, Edwards, and Hillary will have to wait their turn. If they get it, that is.

The GOP and Dems will both pick someone we're not thinking of, and it will probably be someone who didn't run in 2004. John Kerry will not run again. Frankly if we never hear from him again, it will be too soon. John Edwards is a decent guy, but I don't see him running in 2008. I would vote for him, though...that's for sure.

That said, I don't know off-hand who will run in 2008. However, I will make this outside prediction: In Ohio, Michael Coleman, mayor of Columbus, will run for governor in 2006, as he announced today. He will get his party's nomination, and he will win. He will serve from 2006-2010 and get re-elected, because frankly, he's a good guy. In Columbus, the GOP didn't even bother to run anybody against him in 2003 when he got re-elected. Hell, my old doctor's husband ran a write-in campaign against him on behalf of the GOP, but that's hardly a challenge; Coleman wiped the floor with him.

Why am I blathering about the mayor of my home city? Well, in 2012, the Dems would be wise to nominate him for President in 2012 if they lose in 2008. Go on about the fact that he's black or whatever; he's popular around here, and if other states' governors can run for President, why not Ohio's?

And to answer the original question,
McCain for the GOP, and I wish the Dems could resurrect someone like Henry Jackson. Or Lamar Alexander, at least. We'll probably see John Edwards, though.
