There are compassionate conservatives. I'm one. And, supposedly, the liberals are the "intellectuals" so that really wouldn't be an oxymoron.

I was naïve enough to believe that this thread would contain actually oxymorons. The only one that could be an oxymoron is "Just War", its status of an oxymoron depending what one defines "Just" as. Not that I have anything against jokes, of course.

Thank you! I value that compliment greatly. My grandchildren think I'm pretty kewl too, but then again they have no basis for comparison. :D

Yes, I do the "got your nose" thang, and the "my thumb is detachable" thang too. :)

I would first like to establish that my preferred plural of "oxymoron" is "oxymora". It is the Greek plural, and is accepted in English.

Home Schooling
Almost, but no dice. School is derived from the Greek scholê, "discussion or lecture", and those can certainly take place at home or at a facility spefically designed for education.

Microsoft Works
Best. One. Ever.

Benevolent dictator
I see where you're coming from, but, as I've said before, every form of government is perfect, it's just the people that screw it up.

Someone mentioned "Oxymoron" as an oxymoron, so they took mine.
I don't remember that, but if it traced to its etymological roots, then that is correct. It comes from the Greek oxys, "sharp or keen", and môros, "foolish".

Well, they were the Liberal Conservatives, then the Progressive Conservatives, and now they're just called the Conservatives since they united with the Alliance.
