And I'm going to be serious here, unlike the person who started the 'is libertarainism "chic' thread
It's apparently the Chic thing to be- A trendy form of inclusion that everybody's doing; they feel the need to be accepted by their one group, and constantly bash opponents. About all the people I know are conservative or liberal only one in ten actually knows anything about it beyond "Anybody But Bush" or "My parents were conservative so I am too" As far as I can tell, it's continuing to grow entirely from momentum- Let's face it, 1- many people who call themselves conservatives are holier-than-thou assholes who think that there's something wrong with you for holding different opinions. Liberals are smarther-than-thou assholes who also think there's something wrong with your opinions. Let's face it, 2- Most people, when being told they're less of a person for not fitting some arbitrary social standard, will internalize anarchism (which is a radical form of LIBERALISM), regardless of what it is, just to hope that the "cool" rubs off on them.
Noam Chomsky, is call(ed) "Libertarian Socialist," BUT HE IS NOT Libertarian; a true libertarain advocates both social AND economic freedom. Chomsky is just a crazy anarchist
So, in ten years, will people be jumping on the "laughing at conservatives and liberals" bandwagon as quickly and unthinkingly as people are joining them today, will they just be forgotten, or do you think that it actually has some staying power?
