I felt like starting a thread for black metal fans cause I'm bored. And I have a question for people.

Do you guys think Cradle of Filth count as black metal anymore? I heard some of the stuff off their latest CD, and to me it sounds like it would be better labelled as prog metal. Their old stuff sort of was black metal, except more commercialized, but this new stuff is odd.

I can't usually stand all that growling in black metal. I'm more into Power/Epic metal (aka fantasy lyrics, technical passages, etc.). But there are a few bands which I can tolerate. Children of Bodom comes to mind. But in my opinion CoB is just Power disguised as Black metal.

I also have Death Cult Armagdon(sp?) by Dimmur Borgir. It's their only album I can listen to.

But the main reason is Black metal is just too slow for me. ;)

Yeah, I like CoB, for exactly that reason. Most people are like "Eww, they aren't black metal!" I'm more like "So? They're awesome power metal then."

They're interersting. What with being all symphonic and such, which is the absolute opposite of much of the genre. I like them, even if some people think they're sellouts, I don't.

Yeah hellhammers still in them. Their old singer dead shot himself (cough) and their guitarist euronomous made a necklace out of his skull. Then count grishnak (varg vikernes- now imprisoned) who was playing bass for them at the time murdered euronomous.

Yeah, these guys. More violence went on in that band alone than in the rest of the scene, almost!

because i feel that true black metal fans do not want their scene open to lots of involvement- i feel Cof F are not, as they are too commercial. that is eleitist of me, but if anyone thinks of saying something, dont try it. i wont argue with any one much younger than me who will not be honest about how old they really were when they got into metal.

I also think their music seriously rocks. I honestly can't see why it matters though whether they're death metal, black metal, power metal, black power metal, death power metal, black death metal, who cares? They're just an awesome band.

The solution to your problems is I! A die-hard Power/Epic metal fan! All TRUE Power metallians own at least 2 swords/spears/whatever. Some medieval weapon anyways, ;)

any how, true metal heads are glad to so damn cool. we dont waste time with huge arguments on who sucks. i just figure, i still have all my old albums that stand the test of time. Deicide, maiden, slayer, etc. lets just see if people have some of the popular shit in 15 years.

do you lot reckon Testament count as black metal? they're one of my all time favourite bands but their style is more thrash, with a black metal heavy sound imo.
