Got a 'new' pc at the weekend (my uncles old one) it contains :
1.2ghz AMD Athlon
60GB Hard Drive
512mb DDR RAM
64mb 4500 Kyro II
(?)IWill K466 motherboard (can't remember if this is it, I'm not at home and can't remember, but something similar)
It should be running a brand new install of windows XP Pro, but, when I boot it up I get the following error
"Unmountable_Boot_Sector"
I'm about to try chkdsk /p and chkdsk /r followed by FIXMBR or FIX Boot from the command console but has anyone else got any ideas. I've checked and changed all the internal cabling. I've reverted to my BIOS failsafe defaults too.
However, just read an article about if my hard disk is UDMA i need an 80 pin cable, now that's new, I have no idea how many pins are on my hard disk cable.
