UPN has been taken over by black people

Before I begin, don't call me a rascist. I have several friends that have a darker skin pigment then I.

Anyway, this is odd: UPN 20, or whatever it may be near you, has become entirely black. Every show, the entire cast is black. All the movies are about the ghetto or something.

I haven't seen on white, asian, or latino people on the channel for a while. I'm not saying they should be more "equal" when it comes to casting - I just think it's odd.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I've noticed. I think they are all reruns too. Probably all the channel can afford.

Just so you know, "I have black friends" is about the most offensive thing you can say to a black person.

Yes, UPN is entirely black. It's been that way for at least 5 or 6 years.

What should I change the offensive statement to (despite the fact it's true - I think?)

5 or 6 years? I thoguht it just changed a little while ago. Wow.

Doesn't UPN air Star Trek Enterprise?

Well, when you are a start up channel you can do one of two things,

Go after the well established markets that are intrenched and fight for the same pie that the older stations have been for years.

Or, go after the next largest audience that is being ignored and get them.

And then dump them when you get a big enough market share. Which is what FOX did, what the WB was doing before it decided to corner the market on teen soap operas.

Taken over? From very nearly the start, UPN has had a predominantly black lineup. (I know, because I used to work for a large media corporation in Manhattan and used to do the publicity/Nielsen fliers.) I don't see anything wrong with it.

so the whole crew of the enterprise is now black? i hadnt noticed.
isnt that veronica mars program on UPN? and the one about models?

the black urban demographic is very popular with advertisers and its extremely underserved on the bigger networks. seems to me to be a good business decision to target an underserved segment of the population.

i just wish the shows were better.

Yeah, UPN's problem isn't their market, it's that half their shows completely suck.

I call you a racist for naming your friends black and not simply "friends"

Um...I don't think "I have friends" would be a very good argument against accusations of racism.

Is "some of my friends are black" better? (Though it is identical in meaning)
