Political episode of Simpsons

This is mainly for British people. Who saw the episode of the Simpsons on C4 last Friday? I presume it was shown a while ago in America. It was the one where Bart joins a boy band which turns out to be using subliminal messaging to get people to join the navy. It is without a doubt, the most political episode of the Simposns I have ever seen. Anyone agree with me?

What about the one where Krusty runs for congress?

That's a really old episode even in the UK.

It's fairly political. There's another one I'm thinking of that is more political but I can't quite remember it....

There is one where republicans deport all "unamerican" dissenters to a camp...

Are you sure? That means C4 lied. Damn them!

Well I think I saw it in my old house which is over 2 years ago... and I didn't even have cable then so it must have been on C4 or BBC2.

Yeah, I saw it. Good one, that.
Reminds me of the Josie and the Pussycats movie. :D

What is, the subliminal messaging one? Not for us poor saps who don't get digital, it's not...

As for political Simpsons episodes, what about that really old one where Lisa entered that 'Patriots of Tomorrow' essay contest? That's pretty political, IMO.

EDIT:
Well I think I saw it in my old house which is over 2 years ago... and I didn't even have cable then so it must have been on C4 or BBC2.

Really? I watched the Simpsons back then, and I _definitly_ don't remember it.
You say you didn't have cable... you sure you didn't have freeview or something? If it was shown, if you're interested, it'd have been on BBC2, since C4 only got the rights recently.

I didn't have digital at the time when I saw it either.

Oo that's one of the ones I was thinking about :D

The most political one was back in 96 when the aliens captured Clinton and Dole. Then said to the American people that it didn't matter whom they voted for, they were both the same.

Yeah I saw it, but it's damned old episode. The new ones come out on Sky One at about 6 or 6:30 pm on a Sunday...C4 are basically doing the reruns.

C4 are basically doing the reruns.

For people without digital, they're new episodes.
Wasn't this thread to discuss the political-ness of that episode, and not to debate how new it is?

I think the best thing about The Simpsons is that they make fun of absolutly everything. Politics, EVERYTHING.

Thats not the most political one, there was one where all the un-patriotic people (including Clinton) went to Alkatraz to get re-educated. Most were Democrats.

There was a great gun control episode, where the city got rid of all their guns, and then armed zombies started terrorizing the defenceless town :D

Man, I want to see that again, it was great.

There's political satire all over the simpsons if you pay close enough attention.

Just to make this clear: C4 are doing re-runs of bbc2 episodes.
I've seen the subliminal messaging one before and we've never had sky/digital/cable etc, and the last time i watched the C4 ones when i was at home over xmas (no tv at uni) they were all ones i'd seen before.

Proposition 24 was another pretty political episode (falsely blaming high taxes on illigal immigrants like Apu). Also featured the great quote:

'Dad that's crazy logic - it's like me saying this rock keeps away tigers, because you dont see any tigers around do you?"
(homer looks around)
"....Lisa, i want to buy your rock"

:D

There's also the one where Bart and Milhouse get put in competing youth groups and end up in a prank war that evantually erupts in a riot. They all come together to Canada's national anthem rather than America's ode to war anthem.
