Out of Curiosity...

I remember hearing from somewhere that in some parts of the UK, 90% of banknotes had trace amounts of cocaine on them.
So how many people do you think have actually tried drugs, but never known it (not washing hands before eating etc)?

Ha, you wouldn't get enough for even threshold effects.
Anyway, I have no idea how many.

I don't think unknowingly inhaling trace quantities of anything, counts as "trying".

"An idea never challenged cannot be perfected."
:p
Thanks for that. Being a very happy non-user, it's something I've nevertheless been curious about.
Anyone else wanna jump in on my second sentence, now that the first's been dealt with?

I do not believe that things like that happen very often. Unlike certain pathogens, psychoactive drugs must be ingested in much greater amounts than just traces.

Curiosity killed the cat. Or myself, since curiosity is what led me to try in the first place. But you are not as happy a non-user than you be a user, in my opinion! Though that stricly counts for moderate or casual use.

Because of bank sorting machines, Cocaine speads very quickly from one banknote to the other.

Seven?

My pathogen statement got me thinking...wouldn't it be so awesome if we engineered an organism that produced psychoactive effects? Then we could have self-replicating recreational "drugs". Then those residues could actually have an effect. I'll let anyone who understands microbiology finish that thought in his or her head. But it would be pretty awesome, assuming there were no pathogenic qualities to the organism, of course,

It would be a bit tricky to function normally if it replicated inside your body and continued to affect you, though.

Tricky wouldn't even begin to describe the issues with something like that.

I dont think there would ever be enough that the person would be exposed to, to be considered "trying drugs".
