The Beatles

Based on impact and how well known they were and are. Though only 2 remain alive, the others live on in spirit.

And on the CDs

I also think black sabbath and the sex pistols (if your going to include punk into rock, the ramones are an option so i presume you are) are big influences

Hey I just voted Chucky Berry, cause well he rocked before most people knew what rocking was. However the MC5 should be on that list because without them there would be no punk and possibly no thrash metal.

I would have to say MC5, The Clash, Bad Religion, or the Chuck Berry. Without any of these, excluding Bad Religion, who influenced countless 80's skate-punk bands, including NOFX, who is now being ripped off by an even more exponential number of shitty skate-punk bands, modern rock, metal, and punk would be totally different.

Any of the original Southern Bluesmen. Far more influence than the bands listed, as, they actually influenced them all.

How dare you compare Deep Purple to Zepp. Blasphemy, I say. :p Sabbath was cool, but I think they really had a very different shtick.

I voted other- Queen.

Mainly because I love Queen. They innovated by combining straight rock, and all its variants with other forms of music. Their music was extraordinarily adaptive. And all four were/are brilliant musicians.
Then there's their innovation with the film clip. They were among the first bands to experiment with the medium.

Hmm.. I don't think this thread holds much credit as the creator spelt The Beatles, Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix wrong...

I'll help him out.

Beetles - Beatles

Nirvanna - Nirvana

Jimmi Hendrix Jimi Hendrix(close on that one)

Looks to me like he googled "Best Rock Band Ever" and couldn't be stuff remembering how to spell all the names.

Oh and by the way, Jimi Hendrix wasn't a band, he was a person. You might have meant The Jimi Hendrix Experience, but as you can't even spell The Bealtes correctly, I highly doubt it.
