What happened and when? They were once the cradle of civilization, they originated many of our modern writing systems and came up with a code of laws, than, they just stopped changing, they didnt go with the flow, so at once they were at the top, than the upper half, than in the middle, now they are in the lowest part, the only people worse off are Africans, but when did they turn into Jihadists, wasnt their religion once known as the religion of piece? Tell that to some people to get a good laugh now a days. They used to study astronomy and math and discovered many things, now they are still hearding sheep.

It's going on for some time now. The English have been in Afghanistan, and Palestine, then they decided, that Palestine is a nice place for the Jews and created Israel.
Just before that the Germans thought, they must fight the English and enlisted the Arabs as their friends, and gave them money to start a jihad against the English.
In Afghanistan, there were some power struggles where someone got ousted and invited his friends from the north to rescue him, and his foes invited the CIA and bin Laden to help them.
The Arabs attacked Israel just after its founding. From then on, both sides are busy with retaliation for this and for that.
And well, the US supplying weapons to anyone who pays.
Iran was a listening station against the Soviets. The Shah the best friend of the US. His methods not much different from Saddam's. When he got ousted, Iran fell out of favour.
It's a big sandbox, where anyone who needs warriors is engaged. First German against British, then US against Soviets, now, it's mostly about oil, and probably against China. Why else would the US be interested in controlling Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran?
As soon as the troops go into Iran, China goes to Taiwan and North Korea to Japan, and then it gets messy.

Yep.
A better question is: Has anywhere NOT been bad for more than a week with ANY lifeforms being present? (those microbes can be such jerks!)

Soon after Hammurabi died.
The English created Israel?
... and here I thought they were one of the few nations that didn't vote in support of the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, and had previously been trying to create a combined Palestinian-Jewish government.
Perhaps you can also correct my misapprehension that the primary support for the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine actually came from nations that didn't want to have Jewish refugees entering their borders following the Holocaust?

The English created Israel?
Essentially, yes.

The problems in Afghanistan have existed for hundreds of years, Amir (he crowned himself king)Amanullah was killed because he was too mush of a reformer, his son Habibullah died ten years later, also a reformer. His place was taken by former army general and ambassador to France Nadir Shah, who was killed because of a feud.
Traditionalists (and to a lesser extent fundamenatlists) have never liked reforms that gave women rights and education, or went in against the personal privileges of the warlords.
In the entire history there has been only one ruler who wasnt killed or attacked throughout his reign and that was Abdur Rahman, we would call him a cruel despotic dictatorial massmurderer, the Afghans on the other hand respected and feared him, to them he was a good Islamic leader. We he died noone tried to claim leadership, his son Amanullah became Amir of Afghanistan peacefully.

The trouble started about the time that Mohammed died. They went on a large Jihad which created an Islamic Empire stretching from Spain to India. They did stay on top scientifically for a while, and we rediscovered the ancient Greek and Roman texts because the Muslims had preserved them. This helped fuel the Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution in Europe, and the Islamic world was very quickly passed.
The Mid east when bad...let's seee
When the Islamic crazed Arabs invaded Persia. You know, Persia, one of the greatest empires ever, the first nation to ever to have civil rights? Everything went to shit after that.
So yea, I blame Islamic Arabs.
