The Food Thread

I've started this thread so we could talk about what food we are eating, what food we wish we were eating, food we hate, food that we wuld kill for, etc.

If it involves food in any way, bring it!

My favorite foods are napolitan ice cream, lobster, McDonalds Sausage n' Egg McGriddles with no cheese and a round egg instead of a folded egg. Oreas and brownies also kick ass (chocolate is chocolate!).

I hate cheese that isn't mozzarella on pizza or that zesty cheese stuff that's on doritos.

And then there is my lady love VODKA!

Vodka?. Shameful. Bitter all the way. Do you even get real bitter in America?.

Anyway. I want some chips. With tomato sauce, and salt and vinegar, and a battered sausage.

Sounds delicious, this is what I would choose. I would have to get an extra main dish, as I wouldn't be able to decide, and I have a healthy appetite.

Yeah.... this is gonna be a tough decision tonight.

The good thing is that whatever I choose, I'm sure it'll be scrumptious! :D

Fries. You're a joke. Get some real chips. Hmmmm. Chips. These fancy meals. You people are too rich. Can get a good meal for under £2. Under $4 to you Americans with your weak currency.

I can too... either by making food at home, or going to the neighborhood pho place.

And I usually don't spend all that much, since I like to cook (and eat pho) anyway.

But you GOTTA splurge sometimes, especially when you get to pay less than you normally would! (I LOVE Restaurant Week!)

Canada, and I have no idea. I don't drink my vodka plain. Gotta have something in it even if it is just orange juice.

Ooh! Fish and Chips, too! The proper kind made of haddock and beer batter! Knew I'd forget something. Wide fries too so it can really hold a lot of ketchup (tomato sauce :) )

EDIT

Those 'wide' chips I think are called 'beefeaters'.

Oh la la. That sounds interesting...and expensive.

Octopus. Now that is something I have to try.

I wasn't saying vodka is bitter, and it is quite nice straight. Bitter is a drink. It is the other beer. There is lager and bitter. And mild, which is inbetween.

Unless "India Pale Ale" counts as bitter then no :)

I guess I've only tasted lager.

Not sure. If it says ale then it is probably bitter. I prefer bitter to lagar. No idea why. It's usually older men who like bitter.

Octopus. Now that is something I have to try.

Well, I had the Wild mushroom scallion blini, Seared scallops, winter truffle aioli as an appetizer and Pork saltimbocca with sautéed spinach for my main course (and Jewish Apple Cake with homemade whipped cream for dessert). The appetizer and dessert were TO DIE FOR (foodgasm, anyone?), and the main course was also quite good.

My boyfriend had the Grilled octopus with extra virgin olive oil, lemon and fresh herbs over greens as an appetizer (he loved it - but then again, he already knew he loved octopus when he tried it in Spain - they call it "pulpo," by the way) and the Braised lamb shank, french lentils, caramelized cipollinis (and a chocolate cake topped with strawberries and balsamic vinegar for dessert).

A very lovely evening.

And we had great wine (yay BYOBs!), and I'm feeling quite warm and tingly at the moment. :D

Wow - totally 100% agreed. Particularly about the steak, truffles, and Godiva ice cream.

Also a huge fan of crème brulée and espresso with a nice crema.

Love creme brulee, but am not a coffe drinker. Hot cocoa, spiked with a little rum, or Earl Grey.

ever try lady grey? it's like earl grey, but it has violets and orange peels in it. twinings makes a lovely loose-tea version.
