Say, for some reason, the Government of your Nation (Real Nation, not NS Nation), collapsed, and your country was plunged into chaos and anarchy, with warlords and factions battling for control, what would you do? Unless white middle-class men suddenly rose in power, I would live my life as normally as possible.

EDIT: Then again, the U.S. Army would probably gain power pretty quickly. Of course I'd join as soon as possible, seeing as how I was thinking about joining an Academy anyway. Don't see the point of an Academy education if my entire nation and the world has been thrown in chaos...

I'm already ready for just such an unlikely occurrence. You don't have to be a paranoid Christian Aryan survivalist in order to see the benefits of having weapons, ammunition, and a stockpile of food and other useful items.

I would probably become a local warlord.

Wait until the US Army arrived, then try to stay out of their way.

If Canada for some reason slid into anarchy, parts of it would be absorbed by the US (well, everything except Quebec and Ontario).

Well I couldn't really turn anarchist, seeing how I already am one ;)

So would probably try and join up with like minded people and try and live peacefully.

It really depends on the aftermath of the collapse.

For example, if the US Army takes power and restores order, then life goes on as normal.
If it pulls a Somalia, i'd bail the hell out. Take a plane and leave, fast.
If people just split up and make their own nation/states, then i'd just pick one I like and move.

For many Americans, moving to Canada just isn't an option. Given a collapse of our government, the only geographically close nation we COULD go to is Mexico. And I'd much rather stay in California than live my life in Mexico.

Certainly, going that far up north isn't plausible, given the amount of chaos that would likely erupt.

Well, I wouldn't be a warlord, but I would try to set myself up as a local figure of power...and then wreak my vengance upon all who've stood against me over the course of my existance...BWAH-HAH-HAH!

The whole topic seems very abstract, but there would probably be factions rising up before the government would just disappear. It would most definitely be a worldwide event and would probably be some international restoration and peace-keeping groups making efforts to reestablish the government.

However, if it were America that lost its government...
