The election's big, stupid mistake.

Did it ever occur to the US authority in Iraq that the same ink on the finger that allows polling places to identify who voted will also allow TERRORISTS to do the same?

Yes, it did occur to them

It would have been smarter to use an ink that only shows up under UV light. It would be invisible unless the terrorists start carrying blacklights.

It seemingly didn't.

Why dosen't it seem so? Yes, it gives the terrorists a list, but without it, everyone would have no idea where to go, and the election would be a wash.

Actually, there are many means for ballots to identify voters without allowing terrorists the same luxury.

The Afghans did the same thing that the Iraqis are doing. Has it occured to anyone that maybe the US didn't mandate the ink?

The government of a place (In this case the US authority) is who decides these things. In Afghanistan, people weren't trying to KILL voters.

LOL, yes they were. The Taliban didn't leave quietly. There were more than a few instances of Afghan voters gunned down while they were standing in line to vote.

Just so you don't think I'm blowing smoke up your... Even that bed-wetting group, Amnesty International (http://news.amnesty.org/index/ENGASA112806042004), made protests against the killing of voters in Ash-canistan.

Does it matter much? The election, either way, like the election back at home, is going to be a coup, and whether we like it or not, nothing will be done about it.

Well, then they should have LEARNED from it, now shouldn't they?

If people want to vote, they are going to. And what is it that they should have learnt? Not to stand in line in front of a poll? Not to participate? No, those are lessons that they will have to learn later.

True, but the fact remains they should try to prevent civilian deaths, which they don't seem to have the intelligence to do.

No: The election commission should have learned not to make voters that will be targeted by terrorists EASILY IDENTIFIABLE BY FINGER PAINT.

Either that, or the government just doesn't give a flying f*ck about the foreign peoples of the world. And so, to that end, why would we waste our money to insure they can have their lives?

Another good point.
