My family is quite scattered (for people who were all born in America, that is): I have family in Pennsylvania & New Jersey (some of whom are soon to be in Virginia), Washington D.C., Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois, New Mexico, California, Canada, Spain, and Ecuador.

The downside is that I don't get to see all of them often. (Maybe that's a good thing, though?)

The upside is that I have plenty of places to stay when I travel!!

Ooh... can I co-opt some of your family members? I love France and Italy, and while I've never been to Switzerland, I really want to go!

I've had a few run-ins with the law, and I avoided several family obligations like visiting sick family members (who were in Europe at the time)

Well, you should have my dad's side of the family... they're ultra-clannish, so even as they disapprove of things, they'll forgive them.

My dad, for instance, tried growing weed in my grandmother's garden (as a teenager). When she yelled at him and said he had to remove it, he pulled it out of the ground, stuck it in his pipe, and smoked it right in front of her. He did a lot of other not-so-wise things too...

And yet, they all still love him and those things are never brought up nowadays.

Europe: Iceland. All of them live here.

I did almost the exact same thing. The only difference was that I threw the weed out and later took it out of the trash to smoke. (I made sure I sealed it in a plastic bag before tossing it)

Ah, but the point isn't to smoke the weed. (Not when it's that fresh, anyway... doesn't smoke all that well.) The point is to offend your momma.

And if you looked like you did the right thing (throwing the weed out), it's not insulting enough.

Closest family (mom,dad siblings) = Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia

Second category (cousins, uncles aunties etc.) = Switzerland, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, US, Singapore, China.

Third Category (Else...) = Nearly everywhere except imporvished nations.

My imediate family is entirely Canadian - since my father received his citizenship (formerly from Montana) when he was younger.

Outside of that, my roots are:

Italian, of which most of my ancestors have their beginings
Czech, because my father's father was Czech and married a French/Italian
German, because my mother's mother (who married a pure Italian) was born to Italian/German parents

Most of my relatives are living in either Canada, the US, or Italy - I do have relatives throughout Europe, but we are relatively detached from them due to several degrees of separation. Also, the last names on both sides of my parents families were changed during the world wars, since both were Italian names, and there was a fair bit of anti-Italianism in Canada during and after the world wars, when they came to this continent.

that, rules. hands you a big plate of spaghetti. i think that rule was the only thing that saved me from becoming a mental degenerate as i grew up.
to answer the poll question-
my family? in Boston. my parents, and 9 siblings. 1 other sister in jersey, 1 brother in new york, and 1 other brother in oregon. my grandparents are in calabrasia, italy. . i am in california.... and yes, 13 kids. you counted correct, reader.

Puerto Rico, Sicily, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and soon to be in Wisconsin and Maryland as well.

My family is from the Ukraine and Ireland, but are now skattered all over the North American continent.
