Is this not a brilliant song? I will welcome any criticism to the song, but just know.. your wrong. This song is genius!
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go, little high, little low
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooh, didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time
Goodbye, ev'rybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooh, I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I see a little silhouetto of a man
(Scaramouche, Scaramouche) Will you do the Fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very fright'ning me
(Galileo) Galileo (Galileo) Galileo
Galileo, figaro (Magnifico)
I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me
(He's just a poor boy from a poor family)
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
(Let him go!) Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
(Let him go!) We will not let you go
Let me go! (Will not let you go)
Let me go! (Will not let you go) Let me go! Ah
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Oh, Mama mia, Mama mia) Mama mia, let me go!
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here
Nothing really matters, anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me
Any way the wind blows

Meh ... not one of Queen's best, but it works for the joke they were pulling. If you don't know the story behind it, look it up. The song is a great punchline.

What in the living fuck are you smoking? Freddy and the band always claimed the song meant nothing really - although some of the words were persian/arabic. Thats because Freddy was born to Persian parents.
And NO its nothing to do with Freddy's sexuality. None of the songs were. I'm sick of these bloody homo-phobes discrediting such an excellent band. And then on the other hand all the gay people also think the songs were written "about them". Do you honestly believe three straight guys would go along with that sort of thing, dragging their names into the mud.
And for the record Freddy wasn't gay, he was Bisexual.

I think it's a bit over-rated, myself. "Don't Stop Me Now" is a much better song.

Thats also a good song, I just finished listening to it. But its not as good as Bohemian Rhapsody.
Another good song from Queen is "You're My Best Friend".

Actually, it was written in response to a scathing review they received as being nothing but another useless glam-rock band in a sea of useless glam-rock bands. They set out to write something more balladesque, but got the notion to throw in the operatic stuff. It became the punchline to a running joke.
On a musical level, pure technicality and fundamentals, it is a reasonable song (I am a music teacher, by the way, and a musician). It is repetitive and has a standard chord structure, but that allows for some easy on the ear harmonies. It is, however, something a moderately trained 10 year old could play.
And NO its nothing to do with Freddy's sexuality.
Wow ... where did that come from?

Even for being a very mainstream song, I still love it. It still shows Queen's unbelievable talent, and even though I like "The Prophet's Song" better as Queen goes, Boehemian Rhapsody is still amazing.
Aw hell, EVERYTHING QUEEN ROCKS! ^_^ The Fantastic Four: Freddie Mercury (vocals and pianos), Brian May (guitarist, vocals, a little piano), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals, some guitar), and John Deacon (bassist and piano).
All songwriters. All of 'em wrote a hit, and then some. How awesome is that?

And he didn't die from AIDS either. It was botulism. He got it from bad meat in the can.

Eh, the song's okay. Not the worst in the world, but not the best either. There are tons of other things I'd rather hear, but I don't turn off the radio when it comes on either.

The concert band version of Rhapsody sucks. Guitar solos were not meant to be played by trombones...

The craziest thing ever performed by a high school marching band: the Legend of Zelda theme. Especially since they were off key on several parts.

I love Queen. I gave a report on them for a music class. :)
My favorite Queen song ever is "The Show Must Go On", but then again, I'm a theatre geek, and I've had to go onstage while trying not to cry.

Hehe, I re-arranged some parts with my high-school band teacher...so for our spring concert I got to break out the guitar AND do the opera vocals. Best high school concert ever.
I love that song. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.

Really its after Freddies Death or at least was released after it i think its on "Made in Heaven" and Greatest hits 3-its in the boxed set.
Who wants to live forever is cool

"Don't Stop Me Now" is a much better song.
I dunno about better, but it is certianley a high caliber song.
For a real treat, go see the California Guitar Trio perform it live instrumentally. They invite the audience to sing the lyrics.

Mutant Dogs - " I'm sick of these bloody homo-phobes discrediting such an excellent band. "
I have never heard anyone talk shit about or put Queen's music down because of Freddies sexuality.... even homophobes that know what good rock is music respect that band. Who or where are you seeing the band being discredited because of Freddy?

I dunno, but whenever I wanna talk about Queen, the first thing anyone says is "Hey! Did you know the singer was GAY????!?!?"
Which is untrue - he was bisexual. And alot of gay people think that all of Queen songs were gay anthems or something, when in fact, not one of them is. Do you seriously think three straight guys would agree to dedicate their musical careers to such a cause? Especially in that time.

The Show Must Go On is on Innuendo. Made In Heaven features songs written only weeks before Freddie died that they didn't get the chance to put into album form before his death.
Queen is my favorite band in the world, i own all but four of their CD's. I think Bo Rhap is great, but it is not my favorite Queen song. Too Much Love Will Kill You actually is, it's my favorite song ever. It makes me cry everytime i hear it.
As far as his sexuality goes, i know a few people who are pretty homophobic who love Queen and never mention his sexuality at all, so it all depends on the person. I have heard people who know Freddie say he was gay, the whole thing about whether he was gay or bisexual is a long running argument.
Great song, I love it, but it's not my favourite.
