I'm not. But I'm sure, though, that there are millions who are offended by a cross-dresser who's a member of the Church of Satan. I mean, some of these people find two guys holding hands to be grotesque, so you can imagine what they think of Marilyn Manson.

Will I listen to his music? No.

Umm...no
He is a self proclaimed member of the Church of Satan. Apparently he spoke with LaVey, who was impressed and invited him to join the church.

this expression is quite often taken out of context. What was being said is that you will be judged by the same standards you judge others by. Seeing as (at least I hope) no one here has an extra breast and wears hideous makeup, I think they're fairly safe on that account.

Of course, if they have other disgusting personal habits then they will be judged on that.

He obviously wants to shock whoever he can shock, not just the mythical "American religious right".

I used to not listen to his music on account of how he looked, until I realized the music he was pumping out was decent. I'm not a big fan of his, and I really don't "get" what he's trying to say (unless it's just White Zombie-esque jibberish to get a reaction, in which case it can't be understood), but I like some of his songs.

Too true. It's high time that Europeans understood that American attitudes are evolving and that American Christians are too savy and sophisticated a group to get up in arms over every attention seeker in clown makeup. I'm currently listening to Marilyn Manson, I just happened to come on here and see this thread. Huzzah!

I'm of the opinion that he's an extremely talented songwriter and producer, and an unbelievable showman. From what I've seen, he's also a nice guy. He's also really intelligent, and knows how to make a lot of money, and stir up discussion.

I think it's great that there are still people who bite when he's looking to create some controversy. Like when he talks about destroying christianity, heehee. It's an honourable goal :D

For that analogy to make a shread of sense, Michael Jackson would have to be anti-white. The guy is so pro-white he's spent years BECOMING white! Maybe you don't have to be a child to be offended by Michael Jackson would have been more apt.

First off, I don't know what the title album is. And secondly, I am not offended by how wierd he is so much as I am deeply disturbed. However, if you want to get into aa religious debate, fine. Let's leave it at the fact that I go to a firebrand minister's church in Alabama every Sunday, and I'm a bigoted, rascist, chauvanistic pig that still attends Klan meetings, admires Hitler, and finds Jerry Falwell to be a communist dangerous to America, okay?

Actually, he isn't that much against religion, if you listen carefully to his lyrics. In his song "Kill Your God" he isn't actually speaking about God, he is actually singing about how we should turn off our TV's (which, to him, seem to have replaced God). There are many religious references and allusions in his songs, but there aren't really many (or any that I know of, for that matter) that actually insult God. He is more angry with societal problems, such as drugs, TV addiction, beauty obsession, that kind of thing. I also have to agree with another post I read on this thread. He actually is an incredibly polite and respectful person. My friends mother had to walk through a street packed with goth people who were waiting for a Manson Concert. A goth man was being lifted and carried above their heads and one of his boots hit her and knocked her down. He immediately got down, helped her up and apologized profusely. afterwards, one of the goth fans came up to her and said "do you know who that was?! you just got touched by MM!"

so as you can see by my analogy, he really is a nice guy, he just likes to dress darkly. He's simply a goth rocker singing about how the world has its problems and that we should be aware of them. Thats it.

admittedly, his fans are freaky as hell. if he died on stage they would rape his corpse and eat his skin. Some of em just messed up!
