It has... interesting ethical implications, to say the least.

For most of these, the ethical considerations only come in for those who believe that anything and everything with human DNA is sacred.

Now, if they start creating animals with human intellect, emotion, and awareness, there would be a problem.

the only objections is this: humans are better than animals thus creating human animal hybrids is degrading to humans, which is what will lead to what will happene when people start engineering animals with semi human intellelct: they will end up being slaves

And at Stanford University in California an experiment might be done later this year to create mice with human brains.

Thus my comment about the ethical implications.

Unless maybe we humans decide to not enslave another species?
The problem here is the basic human "I need more power!" thing. I never understood that, myself.

Human brain cells will not necessarily equate to human intelligence, emotion, or awareness.

Brain cells are actually quite similar between species, it is the structure and size that makes them truly human. From the way that was described I can only assume they are trying to imitate that structure.

Considering that we don't even know what the structure is, I doubt it. Most likely they are creating a mouse with human brain cells. Most likely, it will act much like any mouse, although certain factors will be slightly different.

Human Born to Mice Parents?

For example, an experiment that would raise concerns, he said, is genetically engineering mice to produce human sperm and eggs, then doing in vitro fertilization to produce a child whose parents are a pair of mice.

What the FUCK has this world come to?

That's a bit subjective.

I mean, take bonobo's for example - they pretty much spend their days having a lot of sex with each other. Seems to me like they're a lot smarter than us humans.

Recent developments in the field of genetics are the modern equivalent of the discovery of fire, with almost incredible potential for both good and bad. Once again we have opened Pandora's box and the furies are escaping.

you no they will make hybrids then try and make someone who was born normally a human and try and change him for stuff like larger muscles, Limb regeneration, Anti baldness :p the military applications would be really valuble recons experts with eyes of an eagle or the new air force who have wings and hold on to bombs would save a bit on today’s wars

Man I want to fly :D

Now that would be weird, to say the least.
