As i'm not doing anything important at work at the moment, i was idly wondering - does anyone else think that coffee goes well with music?
if not, what goes well with music?

Depends on the music:
Alcohol goes well with rock music
Cannabis goes well with chilled out rock music
MDMA goes well with psychedelic dance music
Speed goes well with other forms of dance music
Cocaine goes well with music that makes me better than you
LSD goes well with purple tasting music
Dunno about coffee, I think coffee is evil stuff
Cannabis goes well with chilled out rock music
It goes well with anything that isn't punk.

Opiates are good for chilled-out stuff too.

Or Speed. ;)
Never done dexies though, and don't plan to. One of my friends did a DXM/MDMA pill and started barking like a dog and chasing me on all fours.
I couldn't stop laughing either. Two guys running down the street at midnight with a dog-man chasing them :D
Ah, good times, good times.

Is caffeine the only drug that doesn't go well with music?

Ha, dex and MDMA are like total opposites. The only thing farther from MDMA than that would be PCP, I'd think.
I mean, MDMA is all happy-touchy-feely entactogen, while DXM is all creepy-stuttering-scary-weird dissociative.
Man, it must be weird combining the two.

It was funny when he snapped out of it. We had ran and hid from him, and we were about 5km (give or take.) up the road, almost passed out from exhaustion in some bushes. He was bounding along looking for us when he fell over and we heard this "where am I?"
Apparently it scared the crap out of him, he knew what he was doing, but he was powerless to stop it.
Funny, but i'll pass on it :p

I'm sorry, I'm not convinced by this weak evidence that your statement is true. I can only conclude that we do not know whether coffee and music were made for each other. Personally, I think it's highly unlikely.

Hmmm... Ok.
You want other sources. A quick search on altavista shows 11,500,000 results, and yahoo finds 11,200,000 pages. Will that do for 'serious research'?

Well, it says "a quick search on Altavista," so I assume it means that all quick searches on Altavista have that many results.

And how do these results show that the probability of coffee and music being made for each other is high?
Although I do not have sources, I think I can say with some confidence that music was invented at least one thousand years before coffee. Therefore, the likelihood of them being "made for each other" is slim.

Hmm... my reliable sources say coffee can be traced back to 800 bc (http://inventors.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://sovrana.com/libstory.htm) , and music (if we let pythagoras be its 'inventor') to around
600 bc (http://www.themusicpage.org/articles/Invented%20Music.html) . That's fairly close, wouldn't you say?

The first definite dates go back to 800 b.C.; but already Homer, and many Arabian legends, tell the story of a mysterious black and bitter beverage with powers of stimulation.
Allow me to doubt this source. *doubts*
I wouldn't say 200 years is fairly close in this context, no.
