Stag wandered out the the tennis courts and saw the automatic server, the 'on' light was shining but it did not appear to be firing. He kicked it hard in the side in the universal hope this would in some way make it better, but all it did was make a grinding noise.
He peered down the launch hole, then seeing nothing he straigtened up again. A split second after he did this there was a crack and a ball was fired at incredulous speed out of the machine, imbedding itself in the opposite wall.
Stag was glad he had gone to the lavatory earlier.
