Fine by me. I'm a big fella and I have trained with swords.
Heh, my Kendo training might actually come in handy.

I would rather neither the crooks nor the Dosters have the ability to aquire guns, whereby this entire incident would not take place, and no blood would be shed.
Except that 1)that is an uneccessary infringement of freedom and 2)criminals would probably obtain guns illegally anyway, while law-abiding folk would not and therefore be more subject to gun-violence. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Isn't it funny that when you ask how they intend to take guns from criminals, the anti-gunners disappear! Maybe realising that bans don't stop the supply of anything.

I had to go to an expensive martial arts academy, but it was still fun.

Fine, we'll go back to the time period where women are regarded as nothing more than objects and the ones in power are the ones with the most swords, a weapon that takes training and quite a bit of mass for most to use properly.
Yes, but a thug is still a thug. A dagger is a lot easier to conceal and much easier to use than a sword. I suspect it would be the criminals weapon of choice.

Have you ever heard a reporter ask that kind of question? I wish they would. It's sad is that our media is so anti--gun that they won't press the Schumer-Feinstein gang for details.

Or Spears or fire for that matter. Guns weren't the only method to kill people. Back in the stonage, it was spears, clubs, etc etc etc.

That's the answer. We need to develop a time machine, go back to the Stone Age and ban Assault Rocks!!! That will stop the problem at its source.

No, you're wrong. If you ban them, they'll all magically disappear and criminals won't be able to get them. And of cours only the Chief and his fur booted toadies get femurs.

It does.

If it were only as simple as that. I would love a world w/o any weapons or the desire to oppress anybody for any reason and the freedom to be absolutely free.

Unfortunately this is reality and we have to make do w/ what we have. My own little heaven on earth is my nice little house in the country w/ my family and one of my cats sleeping on my legs. To keep this, I will fight to defend it.

And why people fight to maintain their freedoms from Domestic and Foreign forces.

The Brady Campaign to Stop Gun Ownership and the Million Moron March are at it again. They have labeled the new FN 5.7 pistol as a Cop-Killer and are calling for its ban because AP ammuntion THAT ISN'T EVEN IMPORTED TO THE US was designed for it. Obviously they are unable to distinguish between a gun and ammunition.

Notice they say police "leaders" and not the actual police. So either they're blatantly lieing about thier "test-firing" or they illegally imported the ammuntion into the US.

I read about that, too. More idiots that I wish were pressed for details by our fine fourth estate. I guess I need to send a few more letters to my congressmen and a few more dollars to the NRA.

Yes. Thank goodness the poor Dosters didn't lose their petty cash. Thank goodness that two humans lost their lives. Thank goodness you have the right to plaster someone's brain matter all over your shop.

Yay, yay. Ra ra ra for guns. [/deadpan]

Your sympathy for criminals is touching ... wasted and not a little stupid, but touching nevertheless.

It's too early here to appreciate such subtle irony. But there are so many things wrong the logic that I won't even try to rebut them. Just be glad you don't live in the Bad Old USA. We are.

Forced out, jeweller whose wife was shot dead
By Nick Britten
(Filed: 01/02/2005)

A jeweller who refused to bow to "lawlessness" after his wife was shot dead during an armed raid at their shop closed his family business yesterday after falling victim to another alleged theft.

Victor Bates said he was "utterly dispirited" after the latest incident, in which he claimed to have held the suspected thief for almost half an hour in a shop full of customers as he waited for police to arrive.

He criticised officers for taking "22 minutes to arrive when there is a police station five minutes away".

Exactly!

Such a thing is unheard of in Somalia, where weapons are plenty and the government is unintrusive.

Israel and Switzerland. You have to have a culture that instills personal responsiblility and RESPECT for others in place for an open gun policy to properly work. I.E. Most first world countries.
