Music that reflects who you are.

I've realised this after listening to it for a while, but these 2 Sonic Adventure songs kinda talk about who I am.

LINK (http://void.digibase.ca/SA/Theme%20-%20It%20Doesn't%20Matter.mp3) - This one because I don't like to give up, usually I don't

And LINK (http://void.digibase.ca/SA/Theme%20-%20Unknown%20from%20ME.mp3) - I like being alone, and I like to work alone.

Do you find the music you listen to reflects who you are?

(NOTE: The music is on a slow site so doesn't work well via the net. I download it to get it properly.)

Well, when i'm down, I definitely try and avoid listening to Even In His Youth by Nirvana.

There's a few other songs that spring to mind, but the way I relate to them is kinda...personal. That and i'm tired and need sleep, more the latter than anything. :p

Oh, one more. Back when nearly everyone I knew had wrongly convinced themselves I was gay, I found some solace in listening to Faggot (Faget) by Korn which expressed the feelings I had at the time perfectly. I know, Korn is bad. But yeah. That song and some of their early stuff is alright.

Yeah i'd agree that music reflects who you are .. to an extent.

You can't just judge someone by their music preferences, but you can learn a little about them ..

I'm talking about how my music relates to me... Music tells us nothing about what goes on inside you, but it's a start.

Music can describe what goes on inside you in a scarily accurate way. Someone's cd collection says a fair bit about the different facets of how they think. Better to judge on something like that than how they look...don't ya think!

The thread. I'm thinking of all the old songs I used to vent my anger to. :D

That's a point, I guess.

But I like grunge. Does that mean i'm a tormented and suicidal heroin addict?

I think that says...uh...you like quasi-Industrial stuff. Well, three of the above anyway. :p I have no idea what that says about a person though.

Anyway...I have to work in 5 hours and I havent slept. :(

Heres a pic in the spirit of the moment.

I typically listen to classical music. You know, John williams, Bach, Strauss(I think that is his name). I also listen to some jazz, like Winton Marsalas, and Artie Shaw. My favorit rock group (at least, I think they are rock) is the Blue Man Group. I saw their performance, The Complex, at the Mohegan Sun on my birthday. One of their songs, The Current, is featured in T3, Rise of the Machines. That is some cool stuff.

I also like Williams's duel of the fates, and Imperial march. I like to listen to those when I'm on NS. Given the fact that I use mainly "Evil" technology (Galactic empire, sith... ect.), also like to listen to the Throne Room, with all of the deep dark chorus's of the male and female voices... Sounds kindo of evil. After all, this is where Emperor Palpatine is. Definatly reflects uppon my nation. Dark, Evil, corrupt, no political rights, ect.

The fact I like this one: LINK (http://void.digibase.ca/SA/Theme%20-%20Believe%20in%20Myself.mp3) Suggests I feel that I have to stop copying others.

Elliott Smith. Now I am not suicidal, but pretty much all of his music just speaks to me. In classical music I'd say Arvo Pärt's Tabula Rasa, or his Fratres played by Gil Shaham. All excellent.

Nah ... music reflects mood, a fluid thing. What I do reflects who I am.

Hmm, even though I wasn't asked the question "What music reflects who YOU are?" I will answer.

Thank me later. No checks, I can't take credit cards either.

Hmm, the songs "Who Named the Days?" and "Fucking Little Bastards", by Arab Strap. And "Loch Leven". Hell, the whole "Monday at the Hug & Pint" album.

The song "Waltz #1" by Elliot Smith.

The songs "Beloved" and "Airships" by VNV Nation.

The songs "Plainsong", "Closedown", and "Fascination Street" by The Cure.

Those are probably the songs that best reflect who and what I am.
Or something like that, I think.

Elliott Smith.
You beat me to it!
Although I mentioned specific songs, "Waltz #1" to be exact.

...

Of course, for me, much of it is because I do struggle with suicidal impulses and have struggled with drug addiction, so I'm like him as a person too, unfortunately.

Hmm. If i had to pick my 5 favourite songs they would possibly be

The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work
Tupac - Life Goes On
Otis Reading - Try a Little Tenderness
N-trance - Set You Free
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

What the hell does that say about me?

A top five seems like the best idea, so I'll steal it.

Not in any order... of preference.
1: Dies Irae - Mozart.
2: The entire LOTR soundtrack - Howard Shore
3: Agnus Dei (variant of Adagio for Strings) - Barber
4: Montagues and Capulets - Tchaikovsky
5: Canon - Pachelbel

here are my top ten musics

1) LOTR. I liked all of them
2) Blue Man Group: The Current, featured in T3, Rise of the Machines
3) Weird Al: Yoda
4) John Williams: Imperial March
5) John Williams: Throne Room (the theme where the emperor is in the throne room of the DS2).
6) John Williams: Duel of the Fates
7) Winton marcalis. I like most of Winton's peices of jazz. Especially the Charlie Brown ones.
8) Holst's The Planets: Mars, the bringer of War
9) Strauss Jr: Blue Danube (I think I have that name right)
10) Weild Al: The Night Santa Went Crazy
