Nah, no holidy. But some people have a Burn's supper which is:

MENU
**----__----**
Cock-a-leekie Soup
**----__----**
Hagis wi' Neeps an' Tatties
**----__----**
Some sort of pudding
(can't remeber)

Then folk drink whiskey and maybe participate in a Ceilidh.

I can't decide if the good of whiskey is cancelled out by the greater evil of haggis...

I think this is justification enough to drag out Burns' Nine Inch Will Please A Lady:

Come rede me dame, come tell me, dame,
My dame come tell me truly,
What length o' graith, when weel ca'd hame,
Will sair a woman duly?
The carlin clew her wanton tail,
Her wanton tail sae ready -
I learn'd a sang in Annandale,
Nine inch will please a lady.

But for a koontrie **** like mine,
In sooth, we're nae sae gentle;
We'll take tway thumb-bread to the nine,
And tha's a sonsy pintle;
O leeze me on my Charlie lad,
I'll ne'er forget my Charlie!
Tway roarin handfu's and a daud,
He nidge't it in fu' rarely.

But weary fa' the laithron doup
And may it ne'er ken thrivin!
It's no the length that maks me loup,
But it's the double drivin.-
Come nidge me, Tam, come nidge me Tam,
Come nidge me o'er the nyvel!
Come lowse and lug your battering ram,
And thrash him at my gyvel!

As a Unionist are you not betraying your Scots-Irish heritage by making this assertion?

That is the most excellent poem I have ever read.
Next time this holiday comes around, I must celebrate it, because this Burns guy
is a genius.

There is plenty more where that came from:

Wad Ye Do That?

Gudwife when your gudeman's frae hame,
Might I but be sae bauld,
As come to your bed-chamber,
When winter nights are cauld;
As come to your bed-chamber,
When nights are cauld and wat,
And lie in your gudeman's stead,
Wad ye do that?

Young man, an ye should be so kind,
When our gudeman's frae hame
As come to my bed-chamber,
Where I am laid my lane;
And lie in our gudeman's stead,
I will tell you what,
He fucks me five times ilka night,
Wad ye do that?

'Gyvel' in the previous poem is best read as 'gable' and means 'anus', by the way.

What? Haggis is lovely! Mine's was most good. Haggis and Tatties. I don't like Neeps so much.

I had pork haggis. Which sounds really strange, but it was really rather nice.

Celebration in honour of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.

I went to several with my second ex-wife. I ended up doing a lot of the reading, since a lot of people really had an affinity for scotch.

Mildly enjoying (I'm an English Literature major), but only mildly.

I enjoy getting together on Halloween and reading Poe in a candlelit room much more than snacking on haggis and reading Burns.
