Firstly, I'm going to state my opinion that, as in most such conflicts, every participant in the Civil War were being spoiled children, and I refuse to build a temple for one man in the ruins of his enemy's character. This is not to be turned into a debate about which participant was more in the wrong.

I vaguely recall something about a conflict of interests between Lincoln and and some sort of worker's union, though I can't for the life of me remember the details. The politics of that time period are barely within my sphere of interests, so can anyone provide any information on this?
