Recycling
This may be one ofthe most importantproblems the world has today, ignoring Bush in charge of America of course, but is the earth going to run out of recources?
Supposedly we have about 100 years of oil left and are running out of coal, and other fossels fuels. Not to mention landfil sites filling up, and the CO2 edmisionss creating the greenhouse effect. (Unless you don't balive the scientists and think that there is no greenhouse effect.)
One of the answers to these problems is recycling, but I balive it is underused. Only 7% of Britians Domestic waste is recycled, and even less of Americas, we could save a lot of money and time recycling.
Is there a Recycling Center near you? Do you Recyle? Do you think it's all a waste of time?

I recycle paper, glass, and cans, but alas, I don't recycle plastic. Philadelphia doesn't do it, and while I'm sure I could find a drop-off place somewhere, I must admit I'm far too lazy. (Plus, would it be worth the use and burning of gas?)
But I reuse plastic bags and water bottles, at least!

Recycling is mandatory where I live. I recycle in order to avoid a $500 fine.
Yes, I do recycle. All papers/plastics/etc are placed into my big green recycle bin provided by the City Council and is sent to the city recycling plant, so yea!
Try 25, maybe 30. The only way to stretch the oil supply to a century or more is to use it solely for plastics, and we can probably guess the odds of that.
Unfortunately we have no other way to generate power that is both a) a not totally wasteful trade of work for electricity and b) not likely to kill us all.

Yeah, recycling is pretty big here. Plastic, glass, aluminum, biodegradable things, paper, batteries, and 'other waste' ;)

Recycling is a waste of time!
They make air pollution by driving around and collecting it, and then the factories make air pollution when the stuff is melted down.
Yes, the globe is warming, but that doesn mean its because of "Global Warming." The Earth has warmed and cooled several times, but humans didnt exist when it happened before so no one cared. By the time the polar ice caps melt, our great-great-great-great-grandchildren will be old.

Recycling doesn't reduce global warming. It's more about limited resources, waste disposal problems and cheaper production than global warming.

Ok, I get recycling aluminum. It takes a tremendous ammount of energy to make it from bauxite ore, but it's pretty energy efficient to melt down aluminum cans. My question is why do we have to recycle glass? Are we running out of sand?

We might not be running out of sand, but that's not the point! - Why fill up more landfills with empty bottles when they can be re-used?
Yes, I recycle. Glass, plastic, paper and cans all get collected for recycling, though cardboard doesn't, which pisses me off. If I had a car I'd take it to the recycling centre, but I don't (probably a good thing), so I don't.

A lot of recycling is logistics. How far away are new resources, Sustainability of resources, Cost effectiveness, and so forth. With that said my local council collects our recycling and ships it off to China, which is better than when they just used to dump it in a landfill. x_x
I reckon my house recycles about 10-15% of all household waste. Which is a lot when you consider that we don't recycle plastic.
i recycle.
we have two boxes, one for cans, glass and plastics and one for paper. :)
though it's sad because in the city i come from, you can recycle more than here and this is a bigger city.
i'm also considering making an indoor composter. i should suggest that the green club at my school do a workshop for that.

I'd rather not live on an earth made of garbage, so recycling has obvious merits.
