Do you like cats, or dogs?

Poll coming....

Do you like cats, dogs, or both? Explain.

Personally, I prefer cats. They don't slobber you like dogs do :), and they're less annoying (except when I'm trying to post at NS, of course :D ). Lucky me: we have TEN cats IN the house :p

EDIT: And no, I have no intention of creating an axis of evil thread or making a hit list over this, 'cause it's particularly stupid to do that just because someone prefers one animal over the other.

Cats are evil and they hate humans. If they get the chance, they will kill you. When a cat looks at you and squints, it's trying to think of another way to kill you. If you have more than one cat, they will consider the option of teamwork in their next plan to kill you. The only time a cat is not plotting your demise is when you're giving it an ear rub, but that can only last for so long.

edit: Remember that milk commercial where the old lady has more than ten cats in her house? You'd better be careful

Dogs.

Cats, at best, merely tolerate you, but dogs may actually like you. So, you know, dogs make the better pets.

Dogs. My rat terrier is about the same size as a cat, catches rodents like a cat, and patrols the yard like a cat. Unlike a cat, I don't need kitty litter, she actually enjoys playing, if someone were breaking into the house she'd bark, I can take her to the dog park, she doesn't rip up furniture, and if she can lift she will retrieve it for me. The latter does wonders when I'm working on the car.

Plus I don't feel like I'm dieing around dogs. I got nothing major against cats. If I wanted a pet that had an attitude and didn't really do anything... sure, I'd get a cat. Thankfully I'm allergic to them.

That's exactly why I love cats. I want a smart pet. Not some dumb dog whose only purpose is to stink, drool, and beat people with its tail. Cats know they are elite and are not afraid to let you know.

To each his own, but if I'm paying for food and putting out water and cleaning a litter box, that animal had better do alot more than show me how elite it is.

Dogs don't stink unless the owners are lazy. Not all dogs drool. The tail thing? If guys don't complain, given the level that tail is usually at, then it shouldn't bother chicks at all.

And dogs EAT cats. So much for being elite.

I think it all depends on the specific animal...You can't make generalizations like "Cats merely tolerate you while dogs truly love you". For example my cat is seriously just as loyal and sweet as any dog i've known, and she's never ever ever even tried to scratch me or anything, and I've a cat that would hiss at me if I pet her...I know people who own dogs that are (no pun intended) total fucking bitches...the dogs i mean not the people...
Or maybe you're just born a cat person or a dog person I don't know...

Very much cats. I have eight. Dogs fawn on you. My cats would never do that. A cat is your equal (or better). I sometimes think people who prefer dogs want something to dominate. I've heard of this horrible experiment where trainers would preform vivisection on dogs they raised themselves. When they were being tortured the dog would still lick their toturer and wag their tails. A cat would never do that. I respect a creature that doesn't give blind devotion.

Oh it bothers me alright, my legs get bruised, but that may be just me. And I just hate the whole dog scent I guess, even when it's not overpoweringly stinky. True not all dogs drool, but the smaller ones yap and that's twice as bad as any drool a big one could put off. Maybe I just like the idea of a pet that isn't going to be jumping up on me wanting to play or go outside while I'm laying waste to a field of undead in Diablo II. Then again, a cat would probably lounge it's lazy ass right in front of the monitor, for spite.

And I eat cat too. Chinese is some good eats, y'know, mmmm Moo Goo Gai Kitty.

No noise, just the pumps and such, though if set up right, you are right, very light noise at all.

and they have some really kewl breeds out there, so fish are up there for me, though I used to think of koi as stupid carp, but have changed my stance now that I own some.

well, even though i've had both cats and dogs as pets i would have to say that cats are much less maintainence. you'll never have to chase the cat away from the lawnmower while its running because they incessantly bark at it...thats sheepdogs for ya!
on saying that, that particular dog was dead smart with regards to everything else, he was herding sheep untaught at about 6 months old....

I love my dog, but only because it's a lot like a cat. It's smaller than a cat, as smart as a cat, as clean as a cat, as cute as a cat, as well behaved as a cat, as self-determined as a cat, and generally as cool as a cat.
So I voted cat. I like cats, and the only dogs I like are those who are a lot like cats.

cats have throughout the ages perfected the Evil Evil eye thing. I've heard of this horrible experiment where trainers would preform vivisection on dogs they raised themselves. That is absolutely sick. Anybody who would be willing to do that, especially on their own dog, must be disgusting piles of shit.

I am a cat or dog person, although I own two dogs, which are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. They look just like lady out of 'Lady and The Tramp' if you want a picture of what they look like.

The youngest is very much a fawn on you dog, but only to me. She is shit scared of other people. I can only put it down to the fact I first met her when she was 2 days old, and that she may have been abused by the kids who lived with the mother.

She once bit my brother's labrodor that had cornered her, right on the cheek.

The oldest is more refined, and quite often will ignore you if she feels you have crossed her. For example, a few years ago I went on holiday and left her with a friend. When I got back to pick her up, my friend was at the front door, and my dog went to her front door to see who it was, saw me, looked me straight in the eye unemotionless, and calmly turned round and walked back the way she came.

That is called having respect for oneself. She thought I had abandoned her, and showed her contempt.

Which is fair enough.

They are both good guard dogs, their type is known for having barks louder than their size.

I think that cats and dogs have varying personalities, some can be dependent, others independent.

Cats are arrogant gits who think that you owe them for their company. Every time you stroke a cat, it acts as if it wants to avoid your oh-so-dirty human hand. Every time you place any food that isn't "Whippingham-Mollusc's Prime Tinned Feline Repasts (Manufactured from finest lamb cutlets and drenched in mint sauce, served with a glass of claret)" they look up at you and say "what do you think you're playing at, serf!"

Cats walk in and out as though they're the ones paying the mortgage, defecate wherever they find it convenient, make irritatingly loud noises that are synchronised to the second with the moment when you're just falling asleep, and occasionally will drag in a carcass as what could be termed a greeting. Cats are also given to the engaging tendency of sitting on a part of your body - usually the thighs, where there are plenty of blood vessels - and then digging in those delightful little claws of theirs, seemingly to test the resistance of your flesh. Oh, and they destroy furniture.

Now dogs. Dogs may not be the brightest stars in the sky, but they're abiable, loving and fun. They're gregarious, just like us, and they genuinely love you. They're a damned sight more useful than cats and a damned sight less fussy (though someitmes just as destructive) and overall a far better pet.

Do you like cats, dogs, or both? Explain.

I prefer Dats and Cogs. Not given that option I would take a cat or a small dog. Althoug I do have a soft spot for Malamutes (sp?) and Huskies.

That's exactly why I love cats. I want a smart pet. Not some dumb dog whose only purpose is to stink, drool, and beat people with its tail. Cats know they are elite and are not afraid to let you know.

Na, they just know how to live a really good life. Wake up, get someone to fetch you breakfast, get a massage, take a nap, play around of your favorite sport, take another nap, get another massage, repeat endlessly.

I've found that people who don't like cats have no idea how to make them happy. Be careful with such people, they usually don't know how to make people happy either.

I love cats, and what's more, I have noticed that I usually dislike people that dislike cats. It's really usefull to know, saves alot of time.

I like dogs, because I have two dogs and no cats, so I have to like them.
Squids are cool, but you cannot keep them like pets. :(

I am currently owned by 2 cats
cats, as everyone knows, are space aliens and they are just waiting for the right time to take over the world, why do you think they watch you so closely, they are reporting everthing to the mothership in preparation for the attack ;)

I prefer sex with women, as cats have sharp claws and have to be reinforced with duct tape to prevent them from exploding. And dogs are just nasty - forget it.
