what would you do if your country brought in conscription. but you thought they were fighting an unjust war and you had the choice of pretending to be sick to miss out. what would you do? it may seem obvious but trust me it goes far deeper than it looks

Probably actually make myself sick, if I needed to. Maybe swallow a poison that I know won't kill me but that will incapacitate me for long enough to escape the draft. That or move to Japan.

Well, I would just say that no matter the war, it had to increase US power, and that's always a good thing. Anyway, it is the price I pay for living in the greatest nation on earth.

Grin and bear it. They couldn't draft me anyways. Too underweight.

not a chance in hell. if i really strongly believed in the cause, i would fight for the other side and publicly speak out against my own country.. you know, until i tell them to blow themselves and they cap me for treason.

I've lived in America all my life, and I vehemently disagree with the statement that giving the US more power is a good thing. That's like saying that we should give more money to monopolies.

that is sooo typicalof an american to say. it is far from the greatest nation powerful does not mean great.

If it came to the point where it was a life and death matter, I would happily die for my ideals.

for the sake of argument, how would you define a 'great nation'?

k what if you were playing a team sport and your captain told you to do something say kick the ball away. you highly opposed this desicion but he ordered you to. would you be a team player and accept the fact that it was an order or would you boycott the idea and sulk?

It depends on how much I cared. If I cared enough to disobey orders, then I would ask for justification for his strategy. If he couldn't convince me (and I'm very open to strategic planning), then I'd ignore him.

this is kind of a poor anaolgy as the team doesn't give anything to you the player (other than maybe awards and glory), whereas society has given you an opportunity. previous members of this society have made tremendous sacrfices to establish where you are today and many (i included) feel a debt is owed.

You apparently have not actually been to the U.S. Or, at least, you haven't been off of the east coast.
