Don't bet against the champs... Patriots all the way
You would have to have been an idiot to pick the Colts and the Steelers. Anybody dare pick the Eagles?

Patriots over Eagles. Think about it, Philly beat two mediocore teams while New England had to beat the best offensive team in the league and the team with the best record in the league. Brady will be MVP again, although Dillon deserves it more.

They haven't let me down for over 2 years, every friendly bet I have in the playoffs with a co-worker of mine (a transplanted Californian who hates all New England teams) during the last few playoffs/Superbowl (Also World Series) has resulted in me winning, you think he would realize by now, especially after his trouncing in the MLB ALCS (oh the tears he probably had), when will he learn to not bet against a team from New England, or wear a who's your daddy shirt through Boston.

Technically, the old and moldy turtle at the aquarium can eat your feces, I just doubt their up to either the Pats or the turtles standards.

Well, seeing how I'm from New England(Worcester, MA), and that I've supported the Pat's for all my life, I'd say Pats :D.

Also, we CREAMED the Steelers. The Eagles will be a piece of cake.

Super Bowl: Pats by 21.

Though I am still used to being the underdog, as a lifelong and strictly Sox fan. I didn't pay the Pats any attention until the rather depressign '99 ALCS. Because of this, I still feel very odd in being the favorite all the time, though it is not as bad as it was last year agianst Carolina.

 I hope everyone that wanted a salary cap is happy. The defending SuperBowl champ, and possibly repeat champ, is not the team with the most talent, but the team with the best coach. New England vs. Philadelphia: A Battle of Mediocrity. How many players in this game are going to be deserving of the Hall of Fame when they retire? The top performer on the Pats doesn't take the field until the game is over, and that's just to shake the hand of the opposing head coach. Bellicheck is amazing. The rest of the team is mediocre, or just good.

The Superbowl Champ is not the team with the best players anymore. It's the team with the best coach and front office. The team who is able to get the "role players" who fit into the offense and defense the head coach uses.

I'm torn between my hatred of New England teams and my hatred of Terrel Owens. I hate New England teams because I live in MA and I know exactly how obnoxious they are, and how fickle. I hate TO because he thought he could replace the greatest player in NFL history... and blamed everyone around him when he realized he couldn't.

So I will simply hope for an exciting, well played game, in which Tom Brady, Adam Vinatieri and Terrel Owens suffer career ending injuries.

my super bowl prediction:

ill get drunk and end up screwing some fat or ugly chick, having not watched any football, then wake up the next morning and pretend like it never happened and then recieve phone calls for the next 3 months from said girl, and have her show up at my house at random times, sometimes bringing me gifts.

oh wait that was last year

umm.. i dont know whos even in the runnings for the super bowl

If TO is playing, it's going to be a tight game as they will no doubt put double coverage on him, which always leaves one man open. The Eagles defense is one of the best I've seen. They are great at stopping the run. Also with a secondary full of probowlers, passing is not going to be the easiest.

My pick: If Philly can keep the pressure on Brady and make him leave the pocket, and if the offense can run the ball 20-25 times, they have a good chance. The Patriots are experienced winners, the Eagles have nothing to lose by giving it their all. A shocker 27-24 Eagles.

PS-This Eagles team is so much better then the Carolina team they met in last years NFC championship!

The MVP award is given to the player the is the MVP for the game, so how exactly does Dillion deserve it? THe game is two weeks away.

My prediction is that this will be the first time in 12 years I don't watch the game. I asked for the night off from work to watch the game; I regret doing so now and am actually considering coming into work.

Mediocre?
Tom Brady-2 Super Bowl MVPs, seventh best passer rating in history, Pro Bowler, 28 TD passes in '04

Rodney Harrison-138 tackles, 3 sacks in '04, 2-time Pro Bowler

Corey Dillon- 13 total TD's, 1635 rushing yards, 4.7 yards/carry

Tedy Bruschi-122 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 3 interceptions

Mike Vrabel-5.5 sacks and 2 touchdown receptions!

Troy Brown-Most versatile NFL player played on offense, defense, and special teams

David Givens-15.6 yards/catch

David Patten-18.2 yards/catch

THAT IS NOT MEDIOCRITY

Yes, but Patriots fans are so much better than Red Sox fans. The Patriots don't make a point of hating other teams and selling T-Shirts that say "Jets Suck" and worse. I hate Fenway Park because it's littered with "Yankees Suck" stuff. Show some class!

I love how the Patriots exemplify the word "team". Two examples:

1. Guys playing positions they normally don't. Troy Brown as a cornerback. Mike Vrabel as a tight end. Don Davis as a free safety. Richard Seymour as fullback. Eugene Wilson as cornerback. Russ Hochstein as a tight end. Classic case of putting the team above yourself.

2. Look how Brady split up his TD throws:
David Patten-7
Daniel Graham-7
Deion Branch-4
David Givens-3
Christian Fauria-2
Mike Vrabel (linebacker!)-2
Corey Dillon-1
Patrick Pass-1
Kevin Faulk-1
Bethel Johnson-1
Troy Brown-1

Troy Brown-Most versatile NFL player played on offense, defense, and special teams

Most versitale EVER???? What about Sammy Baugh, who led the NFL in punting, passer rating, touchdowns passing, ran for 3 touchdowns, caught 1 more, and played prety good defensive back as well. I will admit Troy Brown is by far the best 2-way payer in the modern era, but guys were playing two ways back in the 30s-60s. Sammy played in the 50s.

If TO plays he's only gonna be at maybe 50/60%. Since I'm Canadian and hockey's gone I've grown an interest in football. I like Patriots cause they're the closest thing I have to a home team so yeah. Go Pats Go!

Eagles 56, Patriots 3

TO comes back fully rested and itching for action and catches 4 TDs and Westbrook rushes for 130 yards. Donavan goes 38 for 40 for 500 yards and David Akers kicks an amazing 60-yard field goal just for the hell of it. Brady is sacked 13 times before being taken out of the game in the 3rd quarter after all his ribs are cracked and broken. The rest of the team forfeits shortly thereafter.

The cap creates parity in the league where most of the teams in the league have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl and the word "dynasty" gets thrown around when a team wins two championships in three years. It's far better than the deal in MLB, where maybe 10 teams even have a chance of the World Series, and the postseason inevitably involves the Yankees, Red Sox, or Braves.

Passer Rating is a bogus stat. Steve Young has one of, if not the, highest passer rating in NFL history. He had the single season record until this year. It's useless. He fits in the system. It's that simple. SuperBowl MVP? big deal. Where are his league MVP Trophies? His passing titles? Doug Williams was a Superbowl MVP. Doesn't make him great. Throwing a bunch of this years stats doesn't change anything. Players playing both ways isn't all that impressive, nor is it new. If you remember, "The Fridge" played some fullback. Deion Sanders has played both ways.

Try looking at the players, instead of the record... fitting into the system Bellicheck has designed does not make you great. Bellicheck designed the perfect "salary cap" system. He can run it, as long as the players he's got are willing to do what he tells them. And if they don't want to do it, he sends them packing.

Patriots all the way. I'd like to see the Eagles D try to stop the Pats air and ground attack (Dillion and Faulk, don't forget Kevin), get past Bruschi and his crew, and hold the Pats to punting (did anyone see that 48 yarder? Tied for longest at Hienz Field. I just don't see how the Eagles can win.

Can anyone say DYNASTY!

I'm rooting for the Eagles because I have to, being a Philadelphian. It's in my blood. Or something.

But alas, in my heart of hearts, I'm afraid the Eagles will choke in the end like every Philly team does every year. And then it will be so depressing to be in this city again.

Are you crazy? The past 4 years this is what they've done: Win Super Bowl, Go 9-7 and just miss playoffs cuz Jets beat GB in final week, Win Super Bowl, Maybe Win Super Bowl. I don't know how you can write that off as nothing. Didn't Dallas do that same thing 10 years ago? They won 3 in 4 years. If the Pats win again, they are most assuredly a dynasty and the very first of the salary cap era.

I've never said it was nothing. I simply think that everyone is over-reacting to how "great" this team is. They are a good team. They play well together. They are not one of the greatest of all time. They do not have the talent to match up against teams that are dynasties.

If you consider a dynasty only a few years, then sure... you go ahead and think that way. Follow along with what the media spews at you.

Yeah, 10 years ago, Dallas won 3 out of 4. The year they didn't win, do you know how they did? They lost to San Fran in the NFC Title game. 9-7 is a good record. I don't think leaving your playoff destiny in the hands of another team is the mark of a dynasty... but that's just me.
